Hi everyone just a quick question: can you put an ashtray bridge on the Player series teles?
Why would you want to? The six saddle bridge is much better for accurate intonation.
I actually had MORE intonation problems that were not rectified on a MIM Deluxe Nashville Tele than I do on an American Special 3 saddle bridge.
Short answer is yes no problem.
Great thanks everyone!
Yes you can, should be a direct fit. And I would recommend you get some compensated saddles to go with it. Post some pics!
I just did this with a Fender-made one and it was a drop-in. Make sure you get one with 4 mounting screws rather than 3. Compensated saddles seem to be needed for some guitars, not for others. Luckily saddles are pretty cheap if you stay away from boutique makers so you can try both kinds if you want.
I've done that with no issue at all.
Just for clarity, FMIC has marketed a number of T types with "Player" somewhere in the model name. As mentioned above, look for two things:
1) Are there four mount screws, in a row?
2) If so, are the through holes below the mount screw locations?
If so, that "4 mount holes above 6 widely spaced through holes" concept or template is gonna work for you.
yeah i have thought about doing this for a while, seems my options for a white tele in the spec i want are rare so i might just put a vintage style bridge on a player too. i have said it before and ill say it again, six saddles rattle
