I like the looks of it, but the lack of a manual transmission kills it for me. I know the DCT is faster, but it cannot replace the joy of the three pedal dance.

If Ferrari badges were on it, I'd say it's a basically respectable look... But it's not what I'd say a Corvette should look like.

I can't imagine servicing a mid engined V8 is going to be easy or enjoyable.

With all that said though, I'd like to drive one, but even if I could afford it, I doubt it would break past my dislike of GM vehicles.

The Corvette sells about 10x what the Boxster sells.

ya know its like something I avoided all my life is being consciously like the masses. we have so many corvettes at work they look like company cars. on the other end of the lot are the bentleys and ferrari SUV's...the help drives the vettes these days

They were at a point where there wasn't really any more performance to be squeezed out of the present format.

    Yikes.

We just got back from a long trip out West and the closest thing to an Exotic was a Maserati SUV. What we did see was tons and tons of Challengers, Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes.

Oh, and more Subarus than I knew even existed.

    No Ferraris.

I'm not convinced the typical buyer was using all that much of the output of their C7. Lots of the buyers are just cruisers by now. It may be a mistake to try to change that.

And how many would they sell if they overtly pandered to the "cruiser" crowd? Remember the 2002-2005 Thunderbird?

I think they should just update this design for today's technology and safety demands. I'd be in for one.

I don't see the C7 as anything like that loathesome DEW 98 Blunderbird - urk, those made a MitsuChrysler renta-convertible seem edgy.

The cruiser guy wants to talk about actual performance (that's really there). He just doesn't intend to tap into it much.

It looks a hell of a lot better than the nasty C7.

You know all that you say is true, but you don't factor in that "she" you're talking about other than packing more stuff. Today, I through poor planning on my part had to run an errand that I caused me to go through a part of Bakersfield where the city engineers are having a field day with congesting traffic almost to the point of immobility, but that's what they do here in B-town. I saw in plenty of time, the lane I was in was funneling into the center lane, and got in that lane. The LADY in the vehicle behind, and to the left of me, with no place for me to go, tried for a moment to pass EVERYONE, I thought for a minute she would be able to, but simply ran out of space to drive without driving over too many cars to make it worth her while. The cars behind her and on both sides were honking furiously at her. She was happily flipping them off and smiling big as the sun coming up, because she was driving a CADILLAC ESCALADE which not only entitled her to all of the road she wanted, but the sheer weight of the thing made it imperative those around her give way. I don't know if you've kept up with the times old friend, if you want your space now, you have to be armed with the right automotive weapon to claim it! No self respecting woman of means would be caught dead (or maybe they would be caught exactly that way) driving a puny little car that won't allow you to RIGHTFULLY claim your space anytime, anywhere. It's just the way it's done now old boy!
