You need that mid engine for balance because some freeways allow you to go up to 70 mph and who knows what could happen!

23-year-old would embarrass me far too much. I’ll settle for a 40-year-old but I’ll buy her a Ford ranger - not an old one - one of the new ones for her landscaping business. And all the shorts and logo halter tops she needs…

Very reminiscent of many cars, but I still like it

Most all of the "American" car companies are dumping sedans. You'll still be able to buy a sedan, you'll just have to get one from a foreign manufacturer, which you probably would be doing if you did buy an American model. The sedan is aimed at the more shall we say sedate set, and the sedate set can climb in an out of an S.U.V. much easier, have more space, and in most cases not give up much if anything, with the possible exception of looks, and you can get used to looking at anything.

And I gotta wonder about the safety risks involved in so airstreaming a car, any car, that you can't see out the back window in any useful way. Huge blindspots + blazing speed = building in danger.

    My favorite-ever Corvette:

By which I mean 1) the closest I'll ever get to owning a classic Corvette, and 2) things that classic Corvettes blew past while being classic Corvettes.

PRETTY cars, partly 'cause of that awful-view rear window, even then (and, in those days, only a driver's-side mirror):

I'm waiting for the first on the spot newscast of the C8 being rolled up in a knot you could put in your pocket. The announcer saying the car was recorded by radar doing 221 mph just before it hit the back of the tomato truck. (I hope my girlfriend isn't the driver)

There's a certain segment of people that root for that kind of thing.

huh. I look at that car and feel the stirrings of a mid-life crisis coming on.

At 60k for something brand-new with crazy supercar looks, high performance, and the corvette badge on the hood, there will be more than enough moderately successful 40-55 year old executives with poor impulse control lining up to buy this.

I will not be one of them, but I can feel the pull.

At speeds high enough that you're passing everyone, blind spots don't really matter.

GM has a camera-based rear view mirror available on several of its cars and SUVs that I have no doubt will end up in the Corvette. The other two mirrors will cover the sides just fine if properly adjusted.

Let's face it, GM is in desperate times and deservably so. I think that is why they finally did the mid engine 'vette. The sedan era is long gone and GM should have cut their losses in that market long ago. Too little, too late in both categories IMO. We can only hope that they can make a successful transition to today's market demands, but it will be painful. I would love to se this 2020 'vette stomp the exotic sports car market. We will see, but my hopes are realistically low.

This is intriguing. I’m only 55, so still too young to drive a vette, but maybe someday. Seriously though, What does that mean?

Nice car, but not a Corvette to me. Should have made it as another model, and still made a Corvette.

I’m sure it will be a blindingly fast & great handling car, but I’ve marveled at what GM has achieved with the front engine/pushrod platform and I don’t foresee a mid engine Corvette supplanting that.

Edit: Oops, I see it’s the LT2 back there. Pushrod it is.

Looks like a pretty generic sporty car.

Vette owners are given many little perks especially if they are long time repeat customers. One such customer they installed a GPS device during production of the vehicle so the owner could follow it all the way through the assembly until it was driven off the line.He was there at the finish line to see it come out.Kind of like being at the birth of your child I guess.

so do you hire a sitter for her when you want to go out to the bar or an R rated movie?
don't you get tired of having to go places where chicken fingers are on the kids menu?
