I think they only want 4 things:

Don't ask a bunch of unnecessary questions.
    Don't argue.
    Follow the rules.
Don't complain if you or somebody you like gets DQ'ed.

    ;)

1 - what ever the prize is this year, let them have it?
    2 - ...
    3 - ...

and if everyone is cool, maybe they'll host another challenge?

But it's an excellent lubricant, should help one's speed-picking immensely.

But, Dave, Graphite is a Crystalline form of Carbon. Surely that's what Phil had in mind ? ;)

Now Dave, you Ozzies need to play nice with your Kiwi neighbours. See, I even inserted an unnecessary U in there to try and fit in, so I know we can all do it. Let's all join hands now and sing a round of Kumbaya. . . . :D

I got to thinking that I have a few techniques that I want to explore if I join in this year, along with a few other things to try (depending on the final rules):

    1) I want to route in the nut slot on the neck - I always do a bunch of sawing at different angles to do that then clean it up with a thin file: I think it would be great to make the slot a little shallower than I usually make it and have the slot be super clean and flat all the way across the neck.

    2) I want to integrate a few of the contour ideas from the last 3 challenge builds I did with a 2 degree neck angle with the 3 plane top like I did last year - just a bit more contour by thee upper frets and a deep forearm contour.

    3) Make the top thinner overall than I have in the past, but leave "ribs" to support the bridge over a hollow middle - perhaps with a sound hole. Perhaps an Oregon Ash middle with a maple top.

    4) BL Maple one piece neck sounds great - this will keep the neck weight dow a little, but I need to see if it will hole the frets in well enough.

    5) I've been wanting a Strat style pickup config with a Strat style bridge with Tele string spacing and Strat folded steel saddles. If I went down this path, I would use some different control ideas to get all of the Tele and Strat combos, perhaps with a Tele bridge pickup.

    6) A headstock angle would be nice - but done in a really different way.

    7) Keep the finishing technique from the last few builds I've done, but add some tint to get more of a shellac orange/amber tone.

    8) A 61 SG-style neck joint maybe - perhaps go with humbuckers if I go down this route.

They never specified that it has to be a Tele, right? I think it's time to see some ridiculous stuff.

Yup, the templates are pretty much made, and all the major parts ordered. I've got a Hipshot Baby Grand bridge on the way, a couple Artec alnico 2 buckers, and just today won a set of satin chrome Grover tuners for just $27 on the ol ebay.

Oh! And the shop is cleaner and more organized than it has been since the day I moved in! Let's get this show on the road!

Had a plan in mind... most of the parts obtained...

Then, there's been a lot of talk about tenor guitars lately that's caught my attention...

Not sure what I'm gonna do, now...

Yesterday I changed the plan that I've been developing for months into something completely different, hopefully it works out well
