I don’t know if it’s just me but I got one of these on a trade last summer and it’s quickly become my favorite Fender and I have some nice Tele’s. The feel of the neck and the playability combined with the great tone just make this guitar so much easier and fun to play than most of my other Tele’s. I have a 2015 Crimson Red Transparent American Standard that doesn’t hold a candle to this one. Not sure what the mojo is but I’m actively looking for another to see if this is an anomaly.

Anyone else a fan of this seemingly plain Jane stunner of a guitar?

I've got a bunch ( a bunch ) of the 60th Anniversary 2006 Fender guitars (the special models, and the ones with just the button on the headstock) and I've decided they're touted too much. Too many vendors tricking people into paying big premiums.

No disrespect intended.

I bought a new 2011 60th with a rosewood board, but it was my first and only tele and I soon yearned for something decidedly less modern. I ended up Ship-of-Theseus-ing it and eventually parting it out. Regret not just keeping it around, bone stock, and getting a second tele when I could!

These only had an etched neck plate and don’t think they were really any different from the regular American Standards of that year, price or otherwise.

The American Standard doesn't get much respect around here. It's a shame because the 1988 through 2008 models are excellent guitars.

Good! lol. I’ve got 4 of them and I couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve picked all of mine up for good prices and they are excellent quality giggin instruments but not every body’s cup of tea. I get it. Old minty stock American Standards are my flavor of vintage.

That A5 stock neck pickup is simply great.

Actually, the "cubic zirc" version of the '06 American Standard has OV pickups in it. Different, both neck and bridge are good.
