Just bought these two Samick's Greg Bennett. A JZ133 got a week ago (known as the Royale RL5) but the label is not marked Royale, but marked as JZ133 ?
The JZ133 is Korean made in 2002. Has spruce carved top, carved back. Stunning guitar, great player & warm jazz tone. Strung up with 14 Flats on a super low action.
The other I picked up today is a Torino TR4 in metallic black cherry, Abalone dot inlays, has carved top Alder body, nice multi layered 5ply wbwbw binding on the neck and body. Stripped it down to clean and set it up. If it plays as nice as my Royale, it will be a killer guitar.
The standard of finish, overall quality and sound of these Samicks are fantastic.

The Greg Bennett series have always been nice guitars. That headstock has been the deal killer for me.

I though the same but has grown on me, looks like unique USA luthier built guitar headstock esp on jazz models. Samicks are killer guitars (I own two very high end Gibsons too, L5 & ES175)

Cool! One of my buddies had an Avalon back in the day that I spent a lot of time with. I’ve considered picking up a Greg Bennett of my own at times. Solid affordable guitars.

    Enjoy!

i love Korean made guitars, and I even like those headstocks! We even have Samick archery equipment at my house and the woodwork on those is outstanding too.

I've mentioned before....I don't believe I've ever picked up a Samick guitar that wasn't outstanding. My first Telecaster-style guitar (in the '90s) was a Samick. It was more "Tele"-like than many actual Teles. Sadly, it was stolen.

Sorry to hear your git was stolen. Just set the Torino up and is (now) a killer guitar for only $220. The Royale is just superb though, like em both but boy they both produce warm jazz sounds on tbe SD designed neck pick ups.

Look for a GB of any model, you won't regret it.

Tks, they are high quality, high finish, great sounding guitars, no matter which model.

Thanks, I had a 1974 Gibson SG Standard and was my very first guitar which I loved, but this Samick GB Torino SG style is a much better guitar than my Gibson and for only $200.

Didn't mention earlier, but that Tele-style Samick I had was bought in a pawnshop, around '92 or '93 for less than $150.

Shame it got stolen though, sometimes the few dollars we spend on great finds like in pawnshops, don't match to how good the guitar is and importantly, what the guitar means to us.
Keep your eyes peeled for a bargain Samick, I am now i have finally discovered them.
