Am ordering a tele from a local builder. Am thinking 2-tone burst, rosewood fretboard, black pickguard.

Thought this was a classic combo but can’t seem to find many examples online.

If you have one like this, can you please post a pic.

Thank you

That’s a lot of dark on one guitar. I like the combination. I think a three ply guard would look best, setting it off a little from the neck and body. A reddish brown tort looks good on a three color burst. But it’s your guitar. Only your opinion counts. Enjoy it when it comes.

3 tone burst I did. Relic job (take it or leave it lol) old Bakelite guard. I love the classic dark look!

I know you said 2 tone. But it’s as close as I have. Hope it will give you some idea. I personally agree 3 ply (black, white, back) looks good to brighten it. Or even a pearl guard perhaps. But being a relic job I wanted a old style guard. Plus the binding and white switch tip helps cut the dark on mine

20211126_182520.jpg Not a black guard, but it is darker. This is my Warmoth Tele. Warmoths version of Tobacco burst on ash with a rosewood over roasted maple neck. When I ordered the parts for this I went back and forth between parchment and tortoise. Finally went with parchment. But I always wondered how tortoise would look. Still not sure about it but I like it. And now I can switch it out easily.
Cheers...............Todd

This is a guitar in transition. Just set a black guard on it.

In my mind I thought the Tele Ray Davies played in the mid 60s was two tone but then your post encouraged me to find a color pic and it was actually 3 tone. I think the black and white shots the instrument was in influenced my thinking.

What a great looking guitar! I really like how that came out. The pickguard fits it really well and now its got me thinking about a double bound body project. Nicely done again

Awesome looking guitar.

why thank you. I’m quite pleased with my first attempt. Not perfect. But definitely playable

edit: here is a pic of the back. I am very pleased with how the buckle rash and wear came out. (I’ve tamed down the neck a bit so it’s not as dark (used graphite. So light sanding dulled that down, but don’t have a pic at the moment)

haha thank you. Relic job wasn’t easy but fun (to make it believable. Not like these factory jobs.) got the neck SLIGHTLY off center. As you can see with the strings. (High E BARELY makes it all the way down. But not enough to fill and redrill )
