Hi, I've been lurking for quite a while now admiring all the awesome off the shelf and DIY tele's on here and recently made an impulsive Tele purchase so I just want to say Hi and show it off. It's a MIJ 62 reissue and it looks great and plays great but I'm not sure if it's the real deal or not because the markings in the neck pocket were not what I was expecting so am hoping that someone can help decipher it. Thx!

I am no expert and someone else in here is certainly more knowledgeable. It looks stunning nonetheless, play it until you wear it out, and welcome to TDPRI!

    Welcome

    Sweet looking tele

Do any of our Aussie members know if that sticker on the neck plate is common?

    I have never seen that

Does the neck have the typical TL-62 marking?

Based on the “made in japan” logo it looks like a newer one

I’m more familiar with the older mij-cij models

Yes it has the TL-62 marking. I'm pretty sure the neck is ok and the serial number dates it to around 1995 but given the condition and the protective stickers still being attached I'm a little sus about that. I was expecting to see the letters EX somewhere to indicate an export model. I'm not too worried though because the build quality is excellent and the playability is excellent.

Welcome to the forum, nice guitar. I love double bound! I doubt that it is a 95 but you never know, I have a 95 as well. While not unusual for people to leave the plastic on after 25 years it would probably not look like that.

My serial number search came up with 2007-2010
Apparently some 2011’s had the t-serial also

definitely looks like the post cij “made in japan” logo

The ones from the 90’s look a little different than the o.p’s

@RicoC3PO this is what I surmised

I use a Vox Tonelab LE and Strauss tube amp though mostly through the tone lab with headphones on as anything above 2 on the amp is too loud for the current living arrangements.
