The 50's use a 4 ohm and the 100's use a 8 ohm. A 8 ohm in the 50 will fry the amp.
That's total BS! You don't know what you're talking about! A SS amp can handle a higher impedance than it's rated for, but not a lower one! So, an amp that has a minimum impedance rating of 4 ohms can work fine with an 8 or 16 ohm speaker, but the maximum power output will be reduced. However, a 2 ohm one will try to suck too much current from it, and could fry the output transistors. Don't make dumb comments that mislead and misinform people about what's correct when you don't know what you're talking about! DUH!

Don't like being corrected when you're wrong? Too bad! Grow up!

Show me anywhere in the Boss Katana documentation where "sneaky amps" are mentioned and you will have "corrected" me. You could do with doing some growing up yourself.

A few here are making some pretty wild assumptions , about the amp, about my abilities, and about me personally , but it is to be expected, after all, this is internet. :)

All this over a thread about a speaker that FARTS !

I've even been told I am wrong about something but it was not specified, so I am lost with that one, wrong about what ? I've been told to grow up ! Sounds like my wife ! :)

One comment states they did not attend my gig and never played thru a Katana, but suggests that I am doing something wrong and I am playing with too much Bass on the EQ. In fact the comment implies that most guitar players use too much Bass, apparently a Sound Man told him this, I guess .

Ok, lets provide some clarity and have some fun at the same time.

Also keep in mind, this discussion is about a USED amp, not factory fresh out of the box.

Its a Boss Katana Mark II, I know this because it says so in the panel

I am still able to read and follow instructions, even though I'm older. I have reset the amp back to factory settings. I know this because the LEDS on the panel flash as BOSS instructs

While I am not perfect, I do know the difference between MAC and PC, I have the latest WINDOWS Tone Studio, DRIVERS and Mark II Firmware, for THIS AMP. I somehow figured out in my OLDER AGE how to follow the instructions and download the stuff to my PC. I even have the latest manual download, for THIS amp. I got lucky and pressed the right download button !

I don't have an Android phone anymore, so I can't connect the amp to it. I finally purchased an IPhone ! Hooray !

I realize I am older and need a GPS to find my way home, but I still know how to use the Garmin or MAPS in the Iphone.

I realize my technical career has expired and all the things I learned over the last many decades are now null and void, but I still have Google and YouTube to acquire instant knowledge

I'm not the one who suggested that the CLEAN MODE is a Fender amp, but quite honestly thats not a stretch. Clean is attributed to Fender Amps.

and on and on....

All this over a discussion about a speaker that FARTS which has been replaced and the farting as gone silent ! LOL !

The Katana 50 Mark II is a fine little amp for the money but it is NOT a premium amp in any social circle. Its a $250 amp NEW which serves a nice purpose.

Many players here have speakers in thier cabinets and amps that exceed the cost of the Katana NEW ! There is a reason for this. a technical reason.

While maybe some here on TDPRI know and many may not know, I am also a Pedal Steel picker, quality speakers for Pedal Steel amps can run up to over $300. Why ? because the bottom end does not growl or fart . We don't set tone based on the limits of a speaker, we select a speaker based on the TONES we desire.

And this is exactly the same thing with guitar tones, we select an amp or speakers to produce the tones we desire, we don't adjust our tones to the limits of an amp or speaker.

While I really do appreciate all responses and comments, how about keep them to the subject, which is a failing speaker ! We all do know that speakers fail don't we ? :)

I'll try to do better next time !

or maybe...

I'll turn in my Katana Amp Club membership card.

Peace !

The farty low end was a problem in the original Roland Micro Cube, but it wasn't the speaker, it was in the DSP. :D I have no experience with the Katana Mk II, just lots with the original model that I've been using without incident for almost 5 years now.

I never said you were wrong about anything! Didn't you see who that comment was referring to? It was someone who said that none of the amp models in the Katana are Fender, and I pointed out that in the sneaky amps that the Katana can use, there are several Fender amp models, and he got annoyed that I corrected him.

No he didn't get annoyed. He just told you and not for the first time that sneaky amps are not supplied by Boss and are not supported. You didn't correct me at all, just showed your ignorance. Again.

I am still able to read and follow instructions, even though I'm older.

Funny.

Come to think of it, now that I'm old, I find myself being drawn to instructions. When I was younger, I would say, "Instructions? Instructions?! I'm smarter than whichever dufas wrote this unintelligible dribble." Now I say, "Slow down. Don't open anything yet. Let me read through this."

P.S. I'm be curious to hear what GC offered to correct the situation.
