Hi all, So i've got recently Two boss SD-1's Both taiwan, One made in 1990, and the other in 1999, The 1990 one specifies an ACA adapter on the power imput, the other specifies the standard 9v DC PSA. Also have a CS3 from 99 as well which is also the usual 9v DC PSA.

My question, I dont currently have a power supply for it, My current one is a 12DC in 12v that has 7 9v outputs and one 18v output(Dont worry i havent stuck it in there), So is the 1990 sd1 a 12v and the later ones are standard 9v? Can i plug it into my xvive19 or do i need another

The older ACA SD-1 will work on a regulated 9-volt supply, but its LED might not light up. It will also sound different, but in my opinion, they actually sound pretty good on the lower voltage.

Common solutions (pick one):
- Find an ACA power supply for the older SD-1
- Switch to a power supply that has at least one output with a 12-volt option
- Mod the old SD-1 to accept normal 9-volt power.

The mod usually just involves replacing a diode on the PC board with a wire jumper. I've done this to both my MIJ BF-2 and CE-3, then I wrote "PSA" on the back in Sharpie. It's just easier if everything on the board is 9-volt.

Give 'em the beans!
Iirc the 12v Boss pedals will work if daisy chained from a 9v pedal. You'll want to verify that first. But it's how I run my HM-2.

Lights up ok, just gonna give it a go and see how we go. I probably will look into another power supply to accommodate this one and others i may end up with in the future as opposed to having to mod them all.

Yep so i've read into this, Aslong as the first pedal in the chain is a 9v PSA pedal from what i've read it'll be fine.

Updated the first post to show both pedals
