A few months back I found a stripped 1966 Tele on the cheap. It was pretty well hacked and modded by the time I got it. Fortunately for me I love jacked up old guitars, and I love seeing them brought back to life and continued use. Originally I was going to have it refinished, but ai think I like it just fine the way it is.

Here is a quick pic amongst other mutts and mongrel guitars:

Let's see - a badass tele, a Supro lap steel, a Dano, a Gibson acoustic, a tweed Champ and a stack o' vinyl.

    Can I move in?

Nice find, very cool. What is the little shape on the front near the strap lock?

I bought a Strat in the early 70's (a 59) that had all the finish removed. Must have been a fad back then.

    Enjoy.

Not really sure. Maybe somebody tried to put a Gibson-style selector in there?

I don't think you could even refinish it that nicely if you tried. Looks amazing! Definitely keep it as is!

I wish I had a dollar for every old guitar I stripped the finish off.

I've got a '66 tele that was also modded heavily and stripped! However, everything was returned to stock before I bought it. The old parts including control plate fitted with two toggle switches were in the case when I got it!

Stuff like that really gives a guitar character; I've really considered swapping the control plates just to see what the toggles do!

    Looks great!
