    Hey, gang. Hope all's well.

Have a near mint ~'66 Supro 24 on the bench. What an interesting and amazingly toneful amp! This one has the rare white tolex/vinyl covering over the cab.

Can anyone help me ID the speaker date?

It is a Matrecs Industries 12" with the following codes:

    Basket: 129C8W | 557 520
    Cone: 3C0002G

Any help would be appreciated. This amp is very mysterious for me. The construction is unique and very quirky. The lead dress is great and the layout is very tidy.

    Cheers!

    ~F

Damn fine pics too. What a sweet box o'tone.

Schematic handy? or do I have start digging? Is there a valco or gretsch equivalent #?

    EDIT:
    From this article:

Cool looking amp but, I'm thinking it's been recovered. The first clue is the type of tolex: Valco didn't use that type. Oahu amps did have a white covering but the material wasn't the same. Second: the gold or silver piping/trim looks to be missing, which is hard to replace when recovering an amp.

Interesting. There is white piping present. If it's of any consequence, the cab and baffle are hardwood/ply.

The 1624T schem marries up to what I traced out in the chassis, so I think that's on point.

Beautiful! I don't think that's a re-cover, look at how minty it is. Also the white handle, what other Supro has that?
Valco did have that covering and handle on the Gretsch Princess amp so I'm thinking a special run for a music store or something. Screenshot_2020-10-23-17-14-17-1.png
Those hunks of wood are not stock though, looks like somebody made it a closed back.

Tolex looks legit to me. The way the finger joint impressions are so well defined under the tolex tells me it has been on the amp long before the wood started to shrink. That is a real beauty! Congratulations! I think the speaker would be from the 20th week of 1965.

I agree that the shrinkage of the tolex into those finger joints indicate something, but I do not think the covering is original but rather was done long ago and thereby the shrinkage looks legit. The lack of piping and those 2x4 blocks are tells, imho. It is a pity that the covering is non-original because the chassis is so clean that the amp probably had not seen much use. Someone must have wanted a white amp??? as for that speaker, I would question its originality, too....

There’s white piping in there. The owner and I both think the speaker is non original, as well. Interesting little amp and she barks like a Black Dog. Gnuk gnuk gnuk

Hey the grill looked as original as the tolex. All old patina and charm.
