    Walt, it is 24.75".
    The rule of 18 means that 18 is the factor used to calculate the delta between the Fret[n] to Fret[n+1].

    For example, the spacing between fret[0] (nut) and fret[1] is 24.75/18=1.375"

    Thanks Gil, that explains a lot, I did in fact re read page 2 post 29 and it doesn't mention the actual length between nut and bridge. And I was assuming that the rule of 18 was actually 17.817 not considering that in early days it would have been simplified with pen and paper calculations. After reading your message I calculated the frets at exactly 24.75'' at exactly 18 and came up with the same fret spacing that you posted, but placing the 12th fret around 4.6 mm forward of centre, but hey, if it works it just works, fascinating stuff really.

    Thanks again

    Walt

    Sure it works (-;

    Remember that the mass of the vibrating section is changing as you go up the scale so basically the 12th fret should never really be at the dead center.

    Thank you Gil. In accuracy as you have predicted to me: " You'll probably get a bright sounding guitar with lots of low end". I am very happy with tone.
    I take off a hat before your talent.
