Gil are you building your own bodies now? I asked Ken about getting a kit but he's not offering them anymore. I think Gibson cracked down on builders, even Bartlett has stopped selling bodies and necks.

    Gil,

My first electric guitar was an Ibanez AS200, which was their version of a 335....and about a 1000 times better made than the Gibson's of the time (1979). So, I have a soft spot in my heart for these guitars, but going through your build over the last day has increased my appreciation greatly. I gotta hand it to you, your attention to detail and your quest for tone is what really make me respect you. I've gotta get one of your 335's!

Now.....a request. The most beautiful guitar of all time to me is the Bydrland. Maybe it's partly because my first record I bought as a kid was Cat Scratch Fever, but, honestly, even after growing up (LOL) I still think that guitar with a Florentine cut is the sexiest guitar there is.

There might be a lot of "libtard" haters of Uncle Ted lurking around here, but please don't hold that against this beautiful instrument.

I really think your travels to the master class of building will land at big archtop jazz boxes, but I think this thin line box is a worthy endeavor in the meantime (doesn't that short scale piqué your interest?).

This is stunningly beautiful work. A joy to see.

That cherry 335 on the last page made me do a double take for sure... Even after I saw the head and read your name, when I went back to pics of the body I was staring at a vintage piece again!

Thought I'd share some pics of my ES-330 with mickey mouse ears. I dunno exactly what year it is, but it's my favourite guitar by a mile.

The neck's quite slim and the knobs make me think it's a '60 or '61 model.

Thanks again for sharing the amazing work you do. The blonde prototype is the most beautiful 335 I've ever seen.

Sweet, If I were to have to choose, I'd go with the sunburst above. And the label inside is a real nice touch!

Preeb i've been wondering about that planer attachment for the drill press you used in your other build threads. do you trust that for bigger jobs like planing body blanks for just for smaller stuff like headstocks?

i ask because although i had seen that attachment and wanted one i figured they were some sort of gimmic that wasnt really usefull, then i started reading your threads and got to thinking that might be allot more convenient than using a router setup for thicknessing bodies.

    Hi Gil

I know this thread is old, but where/how did you get your ROSS sander outside the US? I would like one myself.

[IMG] Assuming that is a ROSS in the background.

Gil try using a program called Ableton for grabbing your sound, it uses video aswell. you can sync and mess with it. all types of fx's to use. and great for putting a tune together also. Diggin your build. My unk has a Dot and though a cheaper Epi ver of a 335 its still a lovely gat. You were the guy that got me into building aswell. only problem was you make it look so easy and in reality it can get a little tricky :) Thanks for sharing... **** just realised this is a very old thread.. o well still applies
