    Final sanding with 320 grit

    Holly veneer is thinned down to about 0.02"

    HS edges are sanded manually to round over the sharpens and to get that smooth old look.

    Whoever designed the 335 sure had a good eye. Funny how this build seemed to go so much fast than the LP. Do you have any plans to build your own bodies?

    Yeah... but remember that I had to fabricate all the 50's LP parts including the PAF's, M69's, hardware...etc.. Most of them are used on the 335 as well.
    I still need to make the little cream plastic button buggers though.

    So it says blonde on the tape... I'm guessing that's the final finish color? sorry if this was already covered...

    The next proto (59 dot neck bound board) will be a dark burst (-;
    I felt that the unbound 58 would be more of a typical blonde candidate...
    But I'm more concerned with the tone right now. The guitar taps amazingly nice and I can't wait to plug it in (-;

    Good news on the little bugger...
    I got an original 58 CAB button. It is still snow white in color and smells real bad... LOL
    I found a small shop here in Israel that does quick prototypes by copying the original the same way I did with the M69's (see the LP proto thread) with a silicone mold and created a 100% true copy from a special hard resin. Now... here comes the good part... They can also create a mold from the resin copy and mold CAB!!! They have some kind of a small manual machine to do them one by one.
    I already gave them some raw CAB material this morning and waiting for the results.
    Cross your fingers... If this doesn't work I'm stuck and will not make the part from CAB but rather use cold molding with hard white resin. No way am I going to make a steel mold and run a full batch for this part of course.

    Here's the original used for making the part with a NOS #6 1" wood Nickel screw.

    I've seen a few 58's that had a slotted flat head screw but I'm not sure if it's the original or an after market screw... any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Two and a half years of anticipation. At least the Bluray Extended versions are coming out soon.

    Getting back on topic, how long did Gibson use the white strap buttons?
