I am certainly headstock agnostic at this point. I am a new(ish) player with a couple of Teles, a Strat-esque and a ES-335 knockoff. I was thinking of getting a Gibson but this was just too good a deal to pass up. The place I ordered from is waiting on them to come it but I'm not in a hurry. If the frets are wonky, I will also get a PLEK job and may do so anyway. Do they polish the frets when they do a PLEK?

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it!
I would expect that Epiphone to have good frets right out of the box. If you were planning on getting it PLEK'd, I'd just spring for a Gibson. A PLEK job is going to run $200-300.

All in with a PLEK would still be less than a grand but I get what you're saying.
The Gibson Les Paul Tribute is around a grand.

I've always considered myself a bang-for-the-buck buyer. Of my 7 guitars, 3 are Squires and 2 are Epiphones. My most recent purchase was a Gibson DC Junior Tribute. It probably isn't even my nicest guitar (PRS SE), but I sure do like it the best. It is just a different feeling when I grab it and see that iconic Gibson logo on the headstock. Nobody is truly brand- agnostic.

When I went to GC and played the LP Tribute, I just didn't dig it. I liked the LP Standard but didn't like it enough to take it home. The guitar on my lap right now is a PRS Silver Sky and it's wonderful in every way. I want a double HB guitar and, like you, I'm a bang for the buck guy so that's why the Epi designed with the Gibson Custom Shop and US pickups seemed a better choice than the Tribute.

If I don't gel with it, I'll sell it or send it back and get a Gibson (or more likely) a PRS. What model SE do you have?

245 SE- It scratched the Les Paul and PRS itch at one time.
