Ha! I thought I'd seen it all! :) And Springstein owned it at one time, and the mods are contemporary to 1951? Crazy, man...

The ad says Springsteen had one like it, not that he owned that one.

It’s an interesting piece with an interesting history, not just a run of the mill mod job by some idiot hack 20 years later.

    But still...$75 G’s?

Hey, is that wire supposed to be caught under the plate?

I’ve seen this before. It’s been forever sale forever. Someone needs to be flicked in the forehead.

That's quite a collection of slot head screws.

And...just to be clear, this guitar has appeared on TDPRI at least two or three times in the last few months.
It'll probably show up again before too much time has elapsed....but that's OK. It'll STILL be worth a giggle or two. :):):)

Huh. No kidding. I guess I must've missed em. Never seen this thing before, but man it's crazy. I wonder why they decided to configure those plates in that manner? Seems to me that the top one would get in the way etc. Then again, I suppose we might not be dealing with sanity here either so.... there's that ;)

So utterly stupid to do that to a guitar, especially a telecaster. There oughtta be a law I tell ya!

Is it just me, or does that story about drawing three paychecks because you are plugged into three different amps sound a little whacky?

    Pay-ola style?

Still trying to get three times as much money!!! ;)

Sure does. Could be one of those stories appearing too good to be true.

uhmm thats the strangle mod - truncates certain frequencies depending on tightness of the plate screws.
Most likely one of the other plates has a similar mod but set with different tension.

we are beginning to catch onto how the triple paycheck actually works under the bonnet.

I like the idea and the look, but 3 outs is silly. It would be cooler if you could blend all the pickups.

And not on that guitar. I'd be tempted if it was a Squier.
