It is the time of year when it sucks to be a letter carrier. We have been under a solid sheet of ice for 2 days with brutal wind-chills....forecast indicates that it is only to get worse over the next few days.

I was down in Omaha today at the BassPro because I was bored. The weather wasn't that bad down there. Pigged out on chiken at Popeye's...

I saw a pic of the storm at Des Moines, Iowa today. Sho nuff, there was a semi jackknifed on the interstate. I may go down and take video of all the vehicles on the sides of I-29 this week. I need to get some bullets I can't get anywhere else so I may go to Brownell's in Grinnel.

It will be around 35 here tonight. But over the next 4 or 5 nights we might hit 20 or 21.......above zero.

I don't know what the wind chills will be. But just an hour from me at the peak of Mt. Mitchell, NC it will be -2 actual temp when it is 20 for me. Makes a big difference when you go from the valley to the peak of the mountain.

Usually, it'll snow here and it's all gone within a couple days with sun and 50s or even low 60s. Not this year. Had a snow a couple weeks ago, and in shaded areas of streets, still icy. Been a sorta cold winter this year.

we just had a week of these temps, now it is supposed to warm up , this is where it gets dangerous, because it enters the freeze /thaw cycle , snow melts by day and refreezes by night, the ground warms up and the snow above it melts and refreezes every thing turns to sheet ice , be carefull out there Milspec.

Mild winter so far west of the divide. You all out there in the mid west, be very careful with that wind chill factor.

Like Obsessed said, it hasn't been bad out here in the west. We're getting near normal snow in the mountains, but its sunny and in the 40's here in the valley.

There might be some way that I would spend a winter in that kind of cold, but come spring, if no other way, I would walk until I found a warmer place to be.
