I got an Asian Strat recently(Johnson by AXL)and it had a tremolo like that. Asian mount spec but the block was MIM spec. They must use whatever they have the most of lying around.

Looks like a really poorly distressed (fake road worn) "parts caster" to me. I'm not saying it's not a nice player... it certainly can be, it's the over compensation of "road worn" that doesn't sit well with me.

I don't believe this is any sort of fender at all other than a couple of parts... the neck really doesn't look right to me. But again... if it plays well and sounds good who cares. Ultimately that's all that matters.

Yeah....I thought that kind of "soft focus" went out with the seventies porn?

I figger the saddles and top plate are the only Fender parts on this instrument.

For $150 it looks like you got yourself a decent guitar. And that's all that matters.

I have a couple CS Strats with the vintage bridge and pulled one out and they weigh the same and are spaced the same.

I'm going to refinish it because the relic job is terrible and let my kid solder in some pickups.

Based on the truss rod hole, I'm gonna guess it's a China made Squier, fitted with a Fender bridge/trem. Are there grooves cut into the trem block where the springs attach? The MIC Strats are thinner than MIMs or MIAs by about a quarter inch. Nice find!

Here's a MIC I found in a pawnshop; I talked him down to $85. I replaced the tuners, refinished the neck, which has flames like yours, Fender pups, Vintage 59-64s, new pots, pickguard, Fender bridge/trem, and Fender 5-way. It sounds and plays awesome, it's my new favorite.

Before I refinished the neck and put Fender tuners on:

    Nice deal, really pretty neck!
My questions are: How much for the Les Paul right behind it, and the blond Tele about 3/4 way up, and lastly the orange 6120 Gretsch??

I see sort of similarly flamed Chinese necks for sale often, but they usually appear to have as much wood as possible removed in the CNC, not sure why the general Chinese programmers obsession with taking a big piece of wood and making it really small, but...
The long truss access hole looks for sure like cheap import, but some buyers report they get good Chinese necks for $30- $60, while I guess others lose the crap shoot.
If this one is good you made out, I'm always a sucker for nice flame on any neck, but am too skeered to order one from China and too broke to pay for first world quality when they upcharge $100 for some squiggle in the lumber.

Otherwise I'd almost wonder if it came off my parts bench, 'cept I put no Jackson pickups in anything as yet.
    Also never belt sand bodies.
When I do a relic I put one coat of a new color and play the thing until it looks worn...

It’s cool the pawnshop worked with you on the price. Around here, they would have said take it or leave it—and probably argued that the body was in like-new condition too.
