Hello Everyone,

I’m toying with the thought of maybe having an Esquire style 12-string.

However, I haven’t seen any 12-string telle bridges.

I’d be happy if anyone can help me find a boxed (vintage style) 12-string tele bridge or modern type.

All the very best…:)

Many thanks.

Do you know about vintage 12-string Tele style bridges?

If you want a vintage style bridge the down and dirty way is to use one that has string through and top load options, use both for the 12 strings and use plain brass saddles notched to give you the correct spacing and height on the strings.

I know a local musician who's been using that set up ages. It takes a bit of work but it looks good and works well.

was going to suggest this as try out and use the threaded steel saddles which enable the string positions on the saddles to be retained.

Yeah that would probably work for a quick and easy method to get everything fitted and working, I think the only reason this guy did it the way he did was so he could make adjustments between the height of the wound compared to the plain next to it and I guess the intonation too by angling each individual slot. It would be time consuming and you'd need to have decent files though too.

Blackbelt, what is the nut width and spacing at the bridge on your guitar?

That was a Warmoth neck with 1.75" nut width.

Can't tell you the string spacing at the bridge because I no longer own the 12-string neck. I later converted the guitar to a 6-string and it's now set up with Rutters comp saddles. BUT... when it was a 12-string, the outer string spacing would have been in the ballpark of the usual 2-1/16" with the Fender threaded saddles (i.e. limited by the saddle height screws). Hope that helps!

Thanks, I'm not interested but I thought ModBoy would want to know. I consider myself a 12 string player (acoustic) and that would be way too narrow for me at both ends. When I built a double neck 6/12 for my son a few years ago I made the nut 1-7/8 and the bridge spacing was 2-1/4. I did not use Fender style necks or bridges - I was able to find a ToM bridge and tailpiece with the wider spacing.
