12-String Fever?

I sold a Yamaha Pacifica 112 years ago, and now I want it back. And there are literally no solid body electric 12 strings under $500 now. I sold via Craigslist years ago and it turned out to be someone I didn't know who worked in the same building I do, but I don't remember who or if he still works there.

I’ve loved the sound of a 12 string since I was a little kid, asking myself, “why does that guitar sound different than the other ones?” when hearing songs on the radio. My latest is a Taylor 362ce, and I really like this one. Small body, 12-fret, impeccable build, and I like tonal quality of the mahogany top/Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides. It was very hard to find a decent 12 in stock anywhere a couple of years ago, so I ended up paying about twice what my budget was, but I’m happy I did, and I’m still thrilled with the guitar. It’s this one:
Slightly nuts: Pat Martino playing bebop on a 12 string. Tuned in (almost) unison for a chorus effect.

My latest acquisition … a circa 2000 Dearmond S-73-12 electric 12 string with the 2K single coil pickups. Has a wide nut (1 7/8”), low action, and with a compressor has an authentic Byrds tone. The main thing I will change eventually is the bridge, swapping for one with 12 saddles so I can dial in the intonation.

How do you all keep your 12’er tuned? I’m in Eb and capo up.
I searched the world over to find some 12's and tune to D. It's tough to find a 12 string set in 12.
I'm still tuned down but the strings have some mass and I get a whole step down without feel sloppy. Works well for my voice too.

D’Addario Phosphor Bronze EJ38 10-47 and standard tuning for me. I used to swap the G octave string (.008) for a .010 when it broke, but they don’t seem to break anymore. Guess I’m losing my strength.

I have never owned one, but I understand they can be addictive to the right player.

The D12-28 is strung with 10's and tuned to D (two semi tones down). The OM12 is strung with 12's and tuned to D, then down to the equivalent of open G or D. The long scale ladder braced Stella-clone is strung with 13's and tuned to C - think Huddie Ledbetter or Leo Kottke. I don't use a capo.
