That's what I was thinking. I accidentally put a maximum bid of $10,000 on something once, meaning to put $100. (it closed for like $75 so it wasn't a big deal)

 

That happens to be around the amount I have left on my mortgage. If I could busk on a street corner and use that case for tips, the tip money could pay off my mortgage and the second mortgage that I’m now seriously considering so that I can acquire the case.

Awesome. I'm not an expert on Gibson cases, but I've only seen those handles on Chibson cases.

 

If I could have a look at the ‘53 Les Paul inside I might just make an offer.

 

I lived in a state where ticket scalping was illegal so you would see jacked up prices for ball caps or pins with tickets included as a free gift.

Perhaps there is a stolen '59 inside and this way the seller can claim he isn't selling stolen property.

 

Free market/economy, if someone's willing to pay it.... Why not and good luck to the seller... if they can dupe someone into paying that price.

ie, some folk must have more money than sense. So, instead, just buy a new Gibson case, and give the difference to a food bank/ children's charity!
