    $100.00 Paletline Ratocaster

I am going to take on a 72 thinline design with all palate wood body.

I bought a table saw today to make pinewood derby cars, and I think this is an excellent first guitar build project. No pressure at all and the guidelines force me not to break the bank on it. First thing in the morning I am going to pick up some palates. If I am lucky maybe I will be able to do a knotty f hole. Maybe ebay will turn up a cheap neck. I believe I can fake my skill level on the body, but not the neck.

I have been thinking about this one since I say the Taylor palate acoustic.

    Thanks for the inspiration TDPRI

    Another Pallet project?

I'm doing mine out of a pallet that had 1008 quarts of oil shipped on it and maybe some scrap wood that was nailed to the floor of a 18 wheeler trailer used to block forklifts for shipment.

I will give you props for being first to market on the paletcaster for the challenge. However, I have wanted to do this for about a year since another TDPRIer made a Palatcaster. In that thread someone posted a link for the Taylor an I decided a thinline would be a cool take on it.
This will be my first guitar build AND my first time using some of these tools. But the confines of the competition help me keep this hobby project just that.
My palate came from the stack of palates behind the Kinko's.
Crappy sign must be read in high def to see the dates i will do better tomorrow.

I am using some cheap labor to pull the nails. Hundreds of nails.

I have a bunch of pallets in the back yard - all buried in snow at the moment. Perhaps I CAN build something playable outta that mess!
