My humble attempt at a little bit of Bob Wills Western Swing- these cats were monster players! My grandpa LOVED Bob Wills, and while I don’t remember hearing a lot of it as a kid, I do distinctly remember my grandpa hollering “Suey!” or a high “aaa-Haaaa” every time I played something that tickled him a little bit. Hope you enjoy!

    Great Pickin!
Gotta love Bob Wills. I used to go to concerts in Tulsa at the Cain's Country Ballroom. Never saw Bob, but felt all the vibes of him in the place. It's still there complete with Barbeque.
Asleep at the Wheel brought his music to life so we could hear it in modern form. Haven't seen them in years, but always loved their concerts.

Thanks @David C ! I figured out a couple of these licks watching a YouTube video of Asleep at the Wheel (looked like an old Austin City Limits performance, maybe?)! I’m definitely going to check out more.

Thanks for this, incredible playing on a song I remember my grandmother playfully singing to me when I was very small (3-4) and would ask for seconds of dessert. I could gush about Bob for a while, formative musical influence.

I love the way you pick it here, it's a style/technique I'd like to develop. I've been working on (or up to) Eldon-style western swing chord movements for a while now, Whit Smith's channel has been super helpful.

Norah's side-band do a great cover too. Thanks again for sharing!

It’s the home of country music, on that we all agree
But when you cross that old Red River, hoss that just don’t mean a thing
Cause once you're down in Texas, Bob Wills is still the king"
