A friend of mine runs a DR and a Matchless Lightning in stereo. One of the most glorious sounds I have ever heard.
Took me a while to find the sweet spot, but I’m using a Timmy into a Bluesbreaker style pedal. BB for rhythm and the Timmy to push the mids for leads.
I’ve owned one since they first came out. On a rating of 1 to 10, I give it a solid “meh”

My Matchless C-30 build puts a little over 350 volts on the plates in half-power mode (2 of the 4 el84s turned off). JJ and regular Sovtek EL84s...
