I had a 73 and my 78 feels and weighs about the same.
I've owned a few Tele's and these 70's Tele's are my favorites.
I have a 78,its black with a black pickguard. I think Fender change from white to black in 75.

I changed the pots.switch ,bridge and pickups to Bare Knuckle Brown Sugars.Its a nice guitar .
I have a Brunetti MC2 .Great build quality,60 watts of 6L6 power and very versatile. Expensive new,cheap used if you can find one.

I want to replace the nut on my 78 Tele.The slots are cut a little deep.
Douse it have a volute?It might be a 70-72.
