Hi Gitarzysta, thank you for sharing your findings. I've been following your thread on el34world with great interest :) Here is a summary of my...
IMHO, this is a great price. This is the best asking price I've seen for a PR without major issues over the last 3 months.
Do you know which filter circuit stage is connected to the 40uF terminal? (Or alternatively, the symbol on the cap can for the 40 uF section)?
I'm using the stock (shielded cable) footswitch. The buzz is independent of the footswitch being plugged in, on or off.
The cap can is a CE 20/20/20/20 uF. I'll take some pictures later and post them.
The first filter capacitor can be up to 60 uF per GZ34 specs that I can find. Adding a 20 uF capacitor to the existing 20 uF capacitor at node "B"...
I think the tech did that but I'll double check tomorrow.
It's buzzed since I've owned it. It went to a tech in May 2020 for new electrolytic caps and a new cap can, and I had a tech look at it this week...
That's a great mod. I read Rob's analysis of the circuit and added it shortly after I got the amp. The overdrive tone is much better with the...
Interesting - mine is audible even at lower settings. When the furnace is running, the background noise is enough to drown out the buzz up until 5...
I use 4-6, although it's probably because I didn't have reverb before and the novelty hasn't worn off :) It could be a grounding issue with the...
It's a 1967 Fender PR. The cap can and electrolytics have been replaced. I played around with the reverb and preamp tubes. I was able to increase...
I tried placing the additional capacitor in parallel with the other filter capacitors. For reasons I can't explain, when connected to node "B",...
TLDR version: are there any downsides to increasing the capacitance of node "D" in a Princeton Reverb from 20 uF to 40 uF? (see attached...
For those who asked, here's the current fleet. The Champ is a 1961 and the Princeton Reverb is a 1967. I've owned the Champ for ~15 years and the...
Only quarterback I know around here is Tim Brophy
I managed to scrape off most of the SMP sticker, which revealed the following stamped info: PA 10 MEXICO 137 7813 The 137 confirms it's a CTS...
Thanks schmee, I think that picture confirms that it's a CTS. I haven't actually played through it yet but I'll try it later tonight. I'll also...
The resistive impedance measures 6.4 ohms, so it's in the 8 ohm ballpark.
Thanks for the responses so far. I can't see any code numbers on the speaker basket, unfortunately. The observation about the paper gasket on the...
Hello everyone, I have a 10" speaker that I'm trying to identify. I was told that it's the original Fender speaker from a 1967 Princeton Reverb...
Thanks everyone. I'm in South Boston (and I'm originally from Michigan). For those of you who are local, can you recommend a good amp tech in the...
Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for six months and figured I'd finally create a profile. I have some old Fender amps, a newer Stratocaster,...
