Use the 18 to wire the power tubes and convert to 21 for the preamp tubes. That's usually what I do anyway.
The VOR 10's have small magnets.
Classictone is great, Triode, not so much.
My favorite vintage type 10" speaker by far. It works great in a lot of different amps.
I would grind or file a little bit of it off to gain more clearance.
I built a Mojotone and a Boothill 5e3 kit. The Mojotone IMO was the better of the two kits. It had better parts and wire.
Nice looking build. Very tidy workmanship!
I love mine. I use it with an ironman II mini attenuator and it's the most fun I've ever had with an amp.
Bad/cold solder joints can cause that as they heat up and expand. You need to use more heat and solder. Are you using 60/40 solder? It looks like...
I put a Hammond 1750E ot in my 5e3 and it sounded small and thin to my ears. I replaced it with a Mojotone/Heyboer and it was a huge difference....
I don't care for the blue in a 5e3. I run vintage reconed Jensens in mine.
I had the 6k6 ot in my deluxe and it had some grind to it. Not as much as the 8k but, it wasn't totally clean. I've since changed it for the 8k ot...
Looks pretty darn good. It's a nice feeling when it all works out.
Did you use a 1 meg pot?
I've got a 1750E OT if anyone's interested.
I'm in. From the small town of Gill.
The tone control wiring is right. Maybe the pot is bad. I've seen that with new pots before.
Check the wires on the tone control. You may have something wired wrong there. Do a continuity test on the tone control wires to see if there...
I would do a continuity test from the topside of the board to see if it's wired wrong under the board. It wouldn't take very long.
I found a Classictone 40-18022 on ebay. That's the correct transformer for a 5e3.
I contacted Angela instruments yesterday about the transformer. They then contacted hammond and they won't own up to it being the wrong...
I believe Trinity has some low wattage kits.
Hey, if anyone's interested, there are a few Classictone 40-18022 tweed deluxe OT's available on ebay. I bought one yesterday.
I brought the amp out to my shop last night and let it rip. It didn't sound nearly as good as it did with the DR OT. The amp sounded smaller and...
I believe the 1750e is a Princeton Reverb transformer from what I just read online and not a true 5e3 transformer. WTF? They'll be hearing from me...
