my esquire has a harmonic designs 54' special.
loooove the way cassette sounds, and the 238 is just a dream to work with.
everything just sits so nice on these narrow formats.
and our friend ben greenspan mixed it for us, he teaches at a recording school.
ive been recording stuff since i was 15 or so, im 29 now.
the recorder was a tascam 238.
the mixer was a home made unit with volume and pan only for each channel.
for pres we used a modded shure...
we used a tascam 238 for this!
we changed the color a little, not sure its any better.
checked with the band, they're not willing to change it.

i has a weber with a rattle, it ended up being the magnet, i sent it back and they fixed it up.
duane eddy always used single coil pickups, still does.

you could also add a fixed bias switch to your 5e3, that will give you a bit more.
