Checked it. It’s fine.
I’ve checked continuity on all grounds and the signal path.
I tried to separate all the grounded wires on the back of the pot and give them their own spots this time - thinking that me help diagnose things...

Continuity yes between jack ground and back of put.
Continuity no between output lug and jack ground.
Correct. Pickup leads go to thin strips on either side of grounded lug. Output to volume pot goes from V shape connection.
Yep. It is.
Checked that. Not the issue. It definitely seems that some lug is wired wrong.
This is really frustrating. The guitar plays very softly and there is a loud hum when I’m not touching the strings or any component.
The red wire is in the output lug.
Good thought, but no. It has a nice gap.
[ATTACH] I’m on my 26th build. 2 TV Jones buckers, 1 volume, 3 way toggle. No tone. Wired it up with a tone bleed mod. Plugged it in and get loud...
I bought a Switchcraft 12A switching jack. See pic. How would I wire this to function as a switch for the light?[ATTACH]

Thanks for all the info. I painted the guitar Coral nitro from Gracey’s before sending to her. She initially had a 2nd mountain on the upper left...
Did you use a jack switch? If so, what brand? Do the lights effect the tone at all?
Nevermind - Thanks!
Beyond guitar wiring, I’m not good at this stuff. Can anyone describe what the jack/switch - 9V - resistor - LED thing would look like?
I’ve got lots of room in the control cavity.
I recently finished a semihollow build that my niece painted with a theme she calls Trippy Western. See pic.
I initially drilled a hole in the...
I’m a hack, not a luthier. Maybe when I quit my day job .......
Thanks everyone. Great advice. I’m on my 24th build in 10 years, but I’ve never done my necks. (I do everything else.) So I’m hesitant to pull the...
Good point about how heat can affect the fretboard. Definitely want to stay away from that!
