Where are you getting maple cap necks from?
The stiffness is caused by having 2-pieces of maple vs 1. The truss rod is certainly a contributor.
I believe so. Def by 1966. I think they were also trying to address maple that at times could split as the tuners holes were drilled.
The headstocks are thicker too.
