Tighten all box and chassis screws. The wood dries a bit and shrinks and the hardware loosens up in shipping and warehouse storage.
I've had my XD for 8+ years and had no problems at all! Still sounds great!

It's a carry over from the old "Hi Fi" days. You needed to let the tubes warm up before putting a signal thru them.
Modern amps don't need standby...
You'll find that with a few changes, your beast can be more than OK.
Speaker change and tubes, to start with, the best being speaker.
