I have one and it's a really nice amp. Excellent trem and reverb and really warm, organic sound. The ultimate grab-and-go amp IMO.

Back to the original topic...I use a full size EB volume pedal for swells on steel licks and it works great.

The BYOC "Build your own clone" trem is a great pedal for the money. If you want more features, then the Empress is a good bet.
The one time that I did a swap for a MM output transformer (on a Korg AC-15 re-issue) it did make a noticable difference for the better.
