Not saying this is you, OP, but most of the time in the wild, tech issues are PEBCAK: Problem Exists Between Computer And Keyboard (Or, if you like, PICNIC: Problem In Chair, Not In Computer). I purposefully block about 95% of cookies and other trackers when I browse, so I'm constantly having...

Where have all the solos gone?

Out of pop, thankfully. Only a select few knew how to make them work in a 3 minute song.

The TENET film and Aesthetic Dissonance

Fair enough (we can at least agree that it is probably a low-'skill' endeavor, but I would still say 'creativity' and 'imagination' are both high here), but also going by that particular definition, don't forget the part '...or that expresses important ideas or feelings.' A black canvas can be...

The TENET film and Aesthetic Dissonance

What? Who makes this distinction? At what point does replication cross the line from 'possible but challenging' ("art"?) to 'so easy' ("not art"?)? In ancient times, Purple was a color of royalty and wealth because it had to be manufactured using extract from sea snails, a difficult and...

    Coincidence? Facebook weirdness.

That said, I've been happily free of the Facebook umbrella for over a year now, and that alone has been wonderful.

    Coincidence? Facebook weirdness.

It's not just an ad-blocker, it's a DNS sinkhole. One benefit is blocked ads; another is blocked trackers. Pairing Pi-Hole with other services that can be run concurrently (like a VPN, for example) provides even better filtering—but as a first step into privacy, Pi-Hole alone is pretty great.

kermit the frog is a better songwriter than you and me...

Fascinating cover; I have conflicted feelings about it. He completely blows through the 'lynchpin pitch' of the entire song—that appoggiatura that ought to happen on the second syllable of "con-nec-tion"—when it appears at 2:49, 3:47, and 4:57. To put it in the context of another rainbow song...

Thinking about switching from Studio One to Logic

I bought Logic Pro 9 in 2012, and Logic Pro X came out in 2013; I don't recall paying for that 'major' (i.e., version-number) update... But even if I am misremembering, I know for a fact that all the versions since (we are now at 10.6.1) have been free. So that's at least more than seven and a...

Thinking about switching from Studio One to Logic

I mean, Logic definitely is great (it is my primary DAW), and people are right to sing its praises. However, for tracking blues rock and making pop and hip hop, Studio One is just about as great. There aren't as many factory virtual instruments, but v 5 is a very capable DAW unfettered by the...

Well, start at the beginning: what kind of music do you make? Why do you make it? What use(s) do you make it for?

Helping a musician friend - Need advice with DAW.

I am glad your computer works for you, but this metric in particular doesn't mean too much with regards to DAW usage. DAWs are realtime processing applications—the audio must stream at exactly 44.1 (or 48, 96, etc.) thousand samples per second. Photoshop, Lightroom, and Cinema4D are offline...
