    GRB Kokocaster

NGD for me yesterday, a GRB Kokocaster (MIK). Been jonesin' for this kind of guitar for a while, couldn't afford a Charvel, but couldn't pass up this deal. Things I like: the neck. 25.5 scale, like a Tele, wide, 1 5/8" at the nut. Medium C shape I guess - very easy to play. The lipsticks on a...

    Steel or Brass Saddles

I should know this, but what are the tonal differences? I ask because I am retrofitting a vintage 60s style Tele (with threaded saddles) for a Bigsby.

    Bigsby Deal

Hey Tele Nation. Thinking about adding a Bigsby vibrato (with Vibramate) to a '62 vintage reissue. Experiences? I'm comfortable with all the technicals, but wondering about the tone effect of such a change.

    Bigsby vs. String Through

Thinking about adding a Bigsby vibrato (with Vibramate adapter) to a Telecaster, in this case a '62 Custom reissue. I love the guitar as it is, but I'm a pretty big user of the vibrato. So my question is about the sound difference, if any, the could result from adding the vibrato, nullifying...

    Bored Guys

I performed this with my bandmate ... we wrote it together over a few video texts and then just traded parts by email (only the drums are loops) until we had the whole thing. It was fun, and yes, there's a Telecaster in there somewhere, lol. It ended up sounding like a bad movie soundtrack for...

    NGDay

Yesterday, two unusual things happened. 1) New guitar arrived at my door (OK not that unusual). 2) Guitar arrived that I vow not to modify. This is unusual. 62 Telecaster Custom reissue, CIJ 2007. Total Tele twang in the bridge, smooth in the neck, and so comfortable to play. The spirit of Leo...

    Rio Grande Stelly

Just put one in the bridge of my vintage Strat. After a lot of experimenting, I wish I had tried this first. Not a visually attractive pickup, but it's very close to what I've been seeking. Using Ernie Ball 'Skinny Top, Heavy Bottom' strings.

    Daddy is a CL Weirdo

And who sells his factory employee guitar anyway, or thinks someone else really wants it? Sheez. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/msg/d/frederick-2014-prs-santana-employee/6826955257.html

    Nashville Stratocaster

Just put this one together and I do like the result. It twangs like a beast. Warmoth SRV neck, and Warmoth hybrid Sonic Blue alder body (they do great work!), Duncan Texas special Strat neck pickup, GFS hot Tele in the bridge. Wilkinson tuners, Electrosocket jack, Fender bridge plate, brass...

    Harmonic Design STP

I can't find demos or reviews of this pickup at Harmonic Design's website, but this boutique designer seems to get a lot of love in general. I'm looking for the closest thing to a Tele bridge pickup to put in my vintage Strat (the routing for which I won't modify). Wondering if this pickup...

    Not Very Deluxe Reverb

About a year ago, I finally got my hands on a silverface ('78) Deluxe Reverb. In toto, I like it a lot. A lot of sound coming out of this little guy. But I'm not so crazy about the reverb at the moment. I had my tech go through the whole amp after I got it, and one thing he did was replace the...

Mixing Passive Speakers / Different Ohms

Not sure where else to post this question. Can I mix passive monitors of both 8 and 16 ohms? My wedges are 8 ohms, but I want to add a Peavey stand monitor for the drummer that's rated at 16, daisy chained with the wedges. Yes or no?

    '78 Deluxe Reverb Strange Problem

The reverb is cutting out when I lean the amp back on an angle. I have definitely isolated the problem to the tank itself, because it doesn't happen when the amp is angled but the tank is out of the amp and level on the floor. Having opened the tank and visually inspected it I can see nothing...

    Jensen P12Q in Blues Deluxe?

The Jensen P12Q, vintage reissue speaker, is rated at 40 watts. Can I safely use it in my Blues Deluxe, which is also 40 watts. Not much wiggle room? I never dime the thing, but still ...

    Mixed Nuts

I've got a partscaster that I love. Bought the neck secondhand and I have no idea what the nut is made of. Any good ideas for how to figure out what material this is? Second question. What do we like for material for a Tele nut? Bone seems logical. Have no experience with brass.

    TV Jones School

School me a bit on classic TV Jones pickups. I built a Les Paul recently with regular, vintage voiced humbuckers, and being almost exclusively a single-coil player, never could get used to the sound. Took 'em out. So now I have guitar on the wall with holes where the transducers should be. TV...

    Humlipster Tele

Just finished and I do like this weird dog. Swamp ash body by Clearfork Designs (highly recommended), Mighty Mite neck, SD antiquity humbucker, GFS lipstick humbucker and vibrato. Mary Kaye white. Having a lot of fun with it.

    1448 In A Photo

You know the one. This one. The Silvertone/Dano 1448 with amp in case. I am interested to know if anyone has ever seen, or possessed, a photo of the amp being used in a performance. In front of real people. "Gigged" as it were. Not just the guitar, but the guitar and amp together. They don't...

    Mighty Mite Neck, Pre-Leveled (!)

I was very pleasantly surprised today to find out that the 9.5 radius Mighty Mite neck that I bought for my humbucker Tele project has already been fret leveled. I checked every fret and I can see the marks that from the file. Good job, M-M! You secured this customer.

    Quilter 101 Head

Is it loud enough for gigging at small to medium size clubs with an efficient 12" speaker? Thinking seriously about downsizing my rig. Or is the Tone Block 200 the seriously better option?

    Bodies from Guitarfetish

Boy they sure are cheap. Looking at trying one out for my next project, a Tele with humbuckers. What's our experience with them? Good/bad/indifferent?

    eBay Reseve Price Fee

Was sort of shocked to see that eBay charged me $100 for a recent listing of a guitar for which I specified a reserve price. $100? Really eBay? I'm not always clueless but when I chose a reserve for the listing, it was far from obvious it would cost $100. Been using eBay a long time. Time to...
