I honestly can't hear a difference between tube and solid state amps.

Acoustic also made some tube amps, which was a surprise to me. A former bandmate had one. It had a great sound.

Are we getting back into tube television? Is this a new thing?

...and that's the truth. I got tired of getting soaked for a hundred each month for 300+ channels of which only three or four were worth watching. I haven't had a TV service provider for about four years now. Don't miss it much either.

    I didn't need another Gretsch

Thanks, but what did it do exactly, or rather what was it supposed to do?

Those scenes from well known comedy shows that still have you laughing no matter how many times you saw them.

Watched a lot of I Love Lucy as a kid, and I don't think she was all that funny either. Now I think Fred Mertz had the best lines on that show.

    I didn't need another Gretsch

Niiice! Please enlighten me on the "useless mudswitch circuit". I only own one Gretsch and it's an Electromatic, so it isn't their top of the line, but it's all I've ever had from them so I'm not familiar with the circuit.

Egnater Rebel 30 head - do it?

I also bought a Tour Master 2x12, but to use with an old Sunn head I have. I tried my Rebel 30 head with it, but that tiny head on top of that cabinet made me laugh every time I looked at it. It was so comical looking.

Egnater Rebel 30 head - do it?

I own a Rebel 30. I guess it's a Mark II. I bought it new back in winter 2010, I think. I got the little 1x12 cab too. I had an issue with it and had to take it to the shop twice. After the second visit it has worked fine, but I opened mine up and it looks like a real pain for an amp tech...

Do You Remember Your First Pedal?

Looks similar to the Sears fuzztone I had around 1973/74. I didn't really know how to use it and thought it did not sound good. It was probably not great, but better than I knew. After I completed my first tour in the Army I purchased a Mutron Phasor II. I was really getting into Little...

    Gretsch Strap Button Repair

I didn't get around to the repair job as quickly as I would have liked due to a number of reasons, but I would like to thank all of you for your help. One of the best things about the TDPRI is the vast resource of knowledge and experience available from the helpful members. I went with the...

When I engage my tuner pedal it turns off my OD pedal- is this normal?

You sure they aren't too close together? I need to make a change on my board because I frequently have an issue with inadvertently hitting my tuner when engaging my wah killing all the sound. Gets a bit embarrassing when it happens at gigs, as it did last weekend. 😆

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to take those precautions.

I agree that they look good, but seem impractical as easily as they loosen up.

    Gretsch Strap Button Repair

I didn't realize it, but in my initial post I failed to state that this is a hollow body guitar. Does that make a difference?

    Gretsch Strap Button Repair

Thank you. I probably should have known. I've seen the term, but it didn't "stick".;)

    Gretsch Strap Button Repair

It's a Gretsch. The button actually threads onto a machine thread stud which has wood screw threads on the end which screws into the guitar.

    Gretsch Strap Button Repair

I have a Gretsch Electromatic that's nothing special to anyone but me. I like the way it plays and sounds, but the rear strap button screw has stripped out. I looked at a couple of YouTube videos, but some were rather involved, and I'm no luthier. I have heard of people shimming and gluing...

Is there a song worse than China Grove?

I thought it was T-Bone Walker. At least I think I read it somewhere.

Is there a song worse than China Grove?

I kinda liked Your Cash Ain't Nothin' But Trash for the humorous lyrics.

Now that gave me a huge laugh. Thanks!!

Is there a song worse than China Grove?

WHOA!!! I almost clicked on that until I realized it was that crap I switch my radio off for every time it comes on. Almost as irritating as the umpteen thousand repeated "We buy any car" ad on the Nashville stations. Ugh!

Is there a song worse than China Grove?

Thanks. A very long time ago. My Dad went until 11 days short of his 94th birthday last fall. We're all going someday. Hope it's not too soon. I'm still working now, but I'd like to be able to enjoy some retirement before I go.

Is there a song worse than China Grove?

That second one is a Paul Simon tune. The "Red Rubber Ball" line in it and title is corny but the rest of the lyrics are okay. At least they're singing and harmonizing, which is more than I can say for some other more revered songs. Hey, I'm not ashamed to admit I like some old sixties pop...
