    Inspired by my old Rickenbacker

Maple set neck. Rosewood board. 24.75" scale (my preference) paddle head. Craigslist score. Neck is clamped up now. I'll drill for tuners on Sunday. I might do wire it up for a second before I spray it. If so, I'll post a clip Sunday night.

Ok....I'm lame. I bought a neck for $35. That's cheaper than what the wood and frets would cost me, not to mention cutting the build time on this down to under 8 hours, not including finish or dry time. Here it is dry fitted.

    Inspired by my old Rickenbacker

It weighed a ton, narrow neck, weak pickups, prone to splitting at the end grain. I didn't really like the way it sounded.

    What's on your workbench today?

    Naw....that's a '59 Rickenbacker D6 with pedals.

    Inspired by my old Rickenbacker

I used to own this '59 Rickenbacker 360F. While I loved it, it wasn't a great player, or a great sounding guitar for me. I loved the way it looks, so I'm building something that better suits me....and I'm doing it on the cheap. Some Home Depot pine butcher board laminated to thickness...

Your cheapest & coolest gear aquisition in 2012?

This mysterious Maestro amp. Labeled as a Reverb Echo Deluxe, this is a 25 watter with a 15" Utah...the Reverb Echo Deluxe "should" be a 16 watter with a single 12". It was an eBay find, and I would've paid three times the price.

    Hummmmm

Having trouble sorting out a hum on a guitar I just built. It's wired unlike anything I've ever done, so maybe someone can help me sort it. It has a hum that goes away when I touch the pickups, or jack. It doesn't go away when when I touch the strings or tailpiece. The hum is really, really...

P90 placement on a set neck build. Need advice

I got it now. It might not look bad with the tennon showing on the top for that 1/8". Or you could use a little trim piece like LP specials, and small guard SGs used.

Help me guys I screwed up (broken screw extraction)

Hobby shops. http://www.hobby-lobby.com/brass_tubing_422_ctg.htm It doesn't really function as a plug cutter, as very little wood, beyond splinters, is removed. It removes the screw, and not the wood, which is why I prefer it. For what it's worth, its a Dan Erlewine trick.

P90 placement on a set neck build. Need advice

Not sure I understand why you can't rout for the neck pickup before you glue the neck.

Thanks! I'm really happy with the way it sounds! The mando neck sounds more like a mandolin than an octave guitar....guess I need to learn mandolin now.
