    Studying for the CompTIA A+

Wow, that's unbelievably helpful. I know what kind of learner, and test taker I am, so that's taken care of, it's just a matter of putting it to good use. I have two old computers, and two laptops here that I can use for hands on work. I was intending to use them for playing around with...

    Studying for the CompTIA A+

Network + was already on the list! A degree as a security analyst comes with a TON of networking education. Which fortunately I find really fun and fascinating. "please don't misconstrue my comments re: study material as being directed at you so much as a common theme I see among those that...

    Studying for the CompTIA A+

Thanks. I'm trying to get in on help desk because, one, I would like to complete my knowledge. I have a sort of swiss cheese of skills. Lots of holes. But the other thing is i have a friend who has a position that he can get me into when I'm ready, the only required minimum is one year help...

    Studying for the CompTIA A+

I don't think videos and a few practice tests alone are going to do the job. I'm going through the videos and making notes. Going through the texts and making notes. I'm turning those into flash cards. I was looking for something like LabSim. Plus I'm going to hook up one of my older computers...

    Studying for the CompTIA A+

I've been away for awhile. Not that I was terribly prolific here anyway. First I had a family tragedy, well two actually. Then as things begin to settle down, I've decided to study for my A+. I've been in school for over a year now working on a degree in Cyber Security. Despite the protestations...

    Who edits this stuff?

Or a desire to be perceived as hip or whatever the current equivalent is.

    That sounds about right. Ugh.

Can anyone think of a better drummer than Travis Barker?

Don't forget how he composed parts to fit the songs, rather than just bashing out a beat. In My Life ought to be something every drummer studies. Terry Bozzio. He's nuts.

    Who edits this stuff?

I'm not the best, most skilled or polished writer, so anything I say may be hypocritical. Even the use of fad language or neologisms at the professional level seems questionable. I just saw an article on The Hill webpage. The author referred to a senator who "doubled down" on something. Another...

    CANDLEBOX

Never liked the band, but always thought the guitar player was great. I'd have to agree with your last sentence, although I think bands of quality and musicianship are still around, but don't get mainstream attention

    Who edits this stuff?

The overall level of quality of writing, the overall literacy level of so-called professional journalism has been consistently becoming worse over time. It's disheartening, but one, there's nothing I can do about it, and two, I know not to mention it here because I'll be told I'm yelling at clouds.

Like We Needed This ...Asian Murder Hornet ???

It really makes me wonder about the intelligence of Nature.

Good points, and I agree. Especially about it being a strange form of entertainment.

In Japan, nature has evolved a method for dealing with these buggers.

    This is not news...

It exists because the population allows it by passively accepting it. Get rid of the news feed. Why anyone would want or need that is mystifying. We control our reality with the choices we make. I choose to seek out relevant information from qualified sources, only when I need it.

    This is not news...

When I'm in that situation, I use my nature given ability to direct my mind and attention on something else, in order to remove offending content from my reality. Works like a charm and is almost entirely overlooked.

That would Linux, not Mac. (Mac being a modified Linux OS, just go to the source)

    Ugh this kid! Parent advice?

I try to frame everything for my daughter in terms of choices. As a possible example - she has a choice here: She can come in while I'm practicing, but *must* leave the guitar alone, or she's not allowed in and I'll lock the door in the future. I'm sure other possible choices, perhaps better...

Like We Needed This ...Asian Murder Hornet ???

I'm not saying there aren't legitimate concerns, I'm simply pointing out that the fear that these sorts of things generate isn't necessary. If a person raises honey bees and that's their livelihood, that makes sense. Otherwise, I don't see how being afraid will make anything any better. There's...

Like We Needed This ...Asian Murder Hornet ???

There's always something else to be afraid of. I recall as a kid when the killer bees were on their way, and the was great concern. Now I find we have here (probably elsewhere, too) something known as the Cow Killer. Then there's Australia. I've heard they have some serious critters down...

"Enter Sandman" in the style of David Bowie

Probably the easiest Bowie phase to mimic. I would have been far more impressed if had done it in the style of Bowie's "German" phase, or that peculiar quality he had for the "Heathen" album.
