Getting strong GAS and deep diving into Microphones.

I use a WA 47 jr. all the time. Great mic! Hits way above it's weight class.

Recommendations for simple guitar interface for MacBook Air.

If you only will be recording one thing at a time and can stretch the budget to $250.00 - I recommend this ... https://www.uaudio.com/audio-interfaces/volt/volt-176-usb.html Built in (switchable) compressor and preamp based on the 1176 and 610 respectively. *This isn't an Apollo. It's UAd's...

$150 a lot of money to ship a used Fender '68 Princeton Reverb domestically.

I sold and shipped a boutique amp head last year. It was a $2750.00 (free shipping) purchase and I wanted it to arrive in perfect condition. I had it packed by an independent pack and ship place out here that actually ships a lot of instruments and amps (and art and antiques, etc.). All the...

Recording an amp with reverb setting

I will agree with the poster that mentioned that a lot folks go WAY overboard when printing, and frankly just playing with reverb/effects - any and all effects. Be judicious. Electric guitar is one of the very few instruments where actually 'printing' fx is de riguer.

Blackface Piggyback Amps...anyone own all of them?

'64 Bassman that I converted to a 2x10" combo. Great amp!

I think I am tonedeaf... Can I do anything against it?

In BOLD for a reason. It's hard at first but it works ... and it's the only thing that works.

    Midweek Backing Track(s) - Your Choice 01.19.22

#1, Golden Lady. This song is HARD to blow over. The abrupt key changes right in the middle of phrase/bar structure make it quite the challenge. Good practice though! *There is a glitch in the BT at 3:10. I thought it was me being sloppy but after soloing my track and not hearing anything weird...

    Midweek Backing Track(s) - Your Choice 01.12.22

If it's any consolation, I recorded the two sections of melody first and then recorded a solo. I've been playing jazz since I was a kid (I'll be 60 this year) but I don't play Stella everyday. I practiced playing over the changes for about an hour before I hit the record button. Also, there's an...

That (mim) Tele with the CC pkup gets a better 'jazz tone' than my 335. No lie.

Recording an amp with reverb setting

I record (professionally) with the spring reverb from a SF Princeton all the time. No one's ever even made mention of it. Hell, when I record an amp sim I will print a touch of either Plate or Spring reverb (via plugins). It just makes it sound more "real". Many times I also print a touch of...

Great to hear that a smaller music store is still doing well. Most of the independent shops in L.A. have gone under. I was very fortunate in the 90s to have a 'friends and family' deal with GT. I got 3 amps (wholesale), a handful of mics and a ton of tubes (of which I still have a stock of)...

Vox MV50 for direct to PA vs Iridium, ASC1 etc or something else?

I can attest to this. I have an MV50 AC. Great little amp for a 1-trick pony AC30 TB tone but ... The little plastic surround sleeve on the back of the amp that the tip of the power supply goes into cracked, broke and fell out within in a month of me getting it. I've only used it in my little...

There is this misconception that 'thinking chromatically' means thinking about and playing within the chromatic scale. That's not it at all. To play (or think) chromatically just means that you are aware of and will use non-chord tones and non-scale tones - usually to emphasize the chord (or...

Is a Blues Junior speaker swap worth it?

I agree with what @Henry Mars just mentioned about the C Rex. I recently did that swap and it has improved that amp. Look, the Bjr is not a great amp. They're a utilitarian, fairly sturdy and relatively cheap tube amp and damn near every guitar, player amatuer or pro, has (and uses) one. Since...

    when is something "good enough"?

I posited that question knowing that you were going to mention those things. But that's really not what I hear when I listen. For the most part, you've got all the notes. Neither King nor Clapton ever played it the same way twice. Where you need to focus your work is 1) on the overall feel. It...
