    Where’s Your Happy Place?

Playing for seniors was my happy place. I don’t go there anymore, but I really miss them. Otherwise, entertaining people in general. I had a good run, but nobody cares anymore, plus, I got sick of giving my everything, sacrificing all, and still being poor. I miss the days before smartphones...

Bob Dylan sells master recordings for $200m

How could anyone even spend all of that? That’s almost like 3 million in todays money! Haha just kidding. Well deserved, Bob. I’m one of your biggest fans.

Complaining about the world, then and now.

I often have to convince myself with mental gymnastics to go to sleep, or just finally close my eyes accidentally while doing research. When I wake up in the morning, I have to encourage myself to go ahead and take on another day, to have hope. Today was no different. Started out with a...

Complaining about the world, then and now.

It depends on what someone is expressing resentment or dissatisfaction about. If something is wrong, and someone paying attention brings it into awareness, I am not going to fault them. Context is important. To complain is not the same thing as grumbling, or mean spirited whining.

A cautionary tale on modern Fender hardshell cases.

One rule I learned the hard way was if I’m comfortable, the equipment will be, too. Anything kept in conditions otherwise will produce disappointing results, in my experience.

    Free heat

I did that for about 10 years in an 1800’s townhouse. It was a 1970’s Kenmore and I was very poor. The dryer was in the kitchen and it helped take the edge off the merciless cold winter air stabbing through every crack. I staple-gunned plastic and blankets over every window and made barriers...

What's your hometown's claim to fame

My hometown is a city of mirrors wiped clean over cracks, sharp-cornered out of package paper and fog-breath glassed from thick antiquity. Initially a cauldron of hope and terror, it is at once a venerable vestige of all that can be hoisted high on the coveting shoulders of industry and...

    Pink Floyd Argument Bait

It absolutely is soft rock, but as much as that song has been played on the radio, it’s still powerful. So much of what they wrote about is relevant now, it’s uncanny. I really love their music. The Wall was my favorite. Used to play that over and over. Contrary to the perception of their fan...

What's your hometown's claim to fame

Been there many times. Kinda creepy place sometimes at night after a bar gig. Also have ancestors that were there at the surrender.

    Zippo! Who still has one?

I gave about 5 away to the thrift store recently, I still have a couple. I used to carry them regularly and keep the extra flints under the cotton flap like a vet showed me they did. There are tricks to making the fuel last longer before evaporating, and if you aren’t worried about the hinge...

Can’t stand U2? Nor can Bono

I used to get irritated by Bono’s antics, but U2 is a solid band, he is a great Rock singer, the Edge plays great, and they have recorded many good songs. One time I read up on U2, and subsequently Bono, and after learning all that he has done for other human beings, I realized I needed to take...

What brand of boots do you wear?

Disappointed with the boots I got only a couple years ago. Falling apart and too painful to wear now. Last pair of the same brand lasted more than two decades. Took them to the store to see if they could/would fix them. They said factory wouldn’t because they were a couple years old, wear and...

Snark shade - This settles it for me - No snark 'bout snarks

I gave up pedals and went straight to amp many years ago, played with a tuner on my headstock for tons of gigs. Never got any grief for it, but then again, I was too busy making a living playing music to worry about what armchair critics worried about.
