(Free) software for drawing guitar wiring diagrams, circuit layouts...

Cool...out of curiosity, why are you using solder pads instead of "Trace Cut" components on the vero board? I now have some tools to analyze the circuit and they will not work properly if you misuse components like that. For example, there is "Highlight Connected Areas" mode in the config that...

Glad you like it. Also, a general announcement. The latest version of DIYLC is now capable of analyzing guitar circuits and figuring out what the wiring is going to do in each switch position. It's far from perfect, but can help a lot...it can detect in/out of phase, coil splits, parallel/series...

Cool, glad you like it. Please let me know if you have a doc ready. I know very little about Macs so I can't be much of a help when people complain. Apple changes stuff in each version and it's hard to keep track :)

    Headless Mini Kotzen Travelcaster

Recorded one more clip with this guitar. It may be an odd choice of guitar for Satriani, being a Telecaster with a fat V neck, but it did good, I think :) Cheers

Java 8 upgrade is on my to-do list. Few years ago I had issues because apple wouldn't upgrade to Java 7, so I had to keep the older version of Java. Now they are on the 8 and they badger people to upgrade :) The app is not damaged, you just need to allow 3rd party apps or whitelist this...

(Free) software for drawing guitar wiring diagrams, circuit layouts...

Yes, Tagboard Effects use DIYLC v3 and v2 for their drawings. Although, I don't understand why they use v2 so much, it's inferior in pretty much every way compared to v3. Thanks to everyone for kind words! I just wanted to give back to the community. DIY community on this and few other forums...

(Free) software for drawing guitar wiring diagrams, circuit layouts...

Thanks, man! I have logged your request here https://github.com/bancika/diy-layout-creator/issues/330 As far as pots with switches, I usually combine mini toggle switch and a pot, like on the tele wiring I uploaded in the first post here. Not sure if it can be done any cleaner with a single...

    Pretty Disappointed with Amplitube 4

I didn't click with Amplitube or Guitar Rig either...they sound very...boss-like to me, not very convincing.

What's your favorite amp simulator plugin?

LePou are awesome and free. Great if you're not willing to spend money. With some nice IR, a touch of delay or reverb, they can sound amazing. BIAS Amp sounds pretty good but is not free. Recently I got really excited about S-Gear. It's more expensive, but to me it sounds the best. Has few amp...

Just wanted to present my (totally free and open source) software for drawing various DIY projects. It's originally designed to draw pedal layouts, but over time I added support for tube amps, schematic and m more recently I started adding support for guitar-related components, such as pickups...

    Headless Mini Kotzen Travelcaster

thanks! Haven't tried with a strap yet, but it's perfectly balanced even without a strap. When I place it over the leg in the normal playing position, it says put.

    Headless Mini Kotzen Travelcaster

finally finished! Took over two years, mostly because of the issues with finishing. We don't have equipment to do finishing ourselves, so we are at the mercy of people who do it, and they stalled it for years doing bigger jobs that pay more. But happy to report that it's done and loving it so...

    DIY Fuzz Face musings...

My favorite combination is a mid-gain germanium in Q1 and silicon transistor (I used BC179) in Q2...it's the best of both worlds, has bite, but also has warmth...it's not too muddy, not to shrill (like all-silicon fuzz) I did some experiments and wrote in my article...

    The ultimate overdrive

yeah, pretty much that...it's just a bit different. Whether it's better or worse it's personal, but it's good to have it at your disposal. Many amps feature asymmetrical clipping due to the way the 3rd triode in the chain is biased (pretty cold bias) - Soldano SLO, Mesa Recto's, Engl's...even...

    Modding an OD 250

in this case yes. With your original setup you'd have 4 options using two switches. With a rotary you can potentially get more options out of a single switch. The three options you listed are fine, but you wouldn't be able to do asymmetrical clipping. Maybe having two rotary switches, one for...

    The ultimate overdrive

check out the section of my article titled "Asymmetrical clipping", hopefully it will help clear things out...and read the whole article for The Ultimate Overdrive and for Flexi Clip (under "Misc"). Sorry, no, it's a one-off build for me. I (almost) never do commission work or batches of...

    The ultimate overdrive

thanks. You could that. Alternatively, you can make a compact module that can fit in some pedals. Please check out my article on that http://diy-fever.com/misc/flexi-clip/ it's the same idea, but meant to be applied to existing pedals.

    Normally Open vs. Normally Closed

if you want the switch to pass the signal while not pressed you need normally closed switch. Pressing it will open the switch and disconnect the signal flow. It has only 2 terminals, just wire the signal to and from the switch, doesn't matter in which direction.

    The ultimate overdrive

I started this project three years ago and was nearly completed when I lost interest for DIY altogether and stopped all projects. Recently I regained will to build stuff and started completing what I started before. This one is based on Timmy overdrive. I wanted a transparent sounding and super...

Making my own picks (Blue Chip/Gravity inspired)

yeah, I have Pickboy (faux) turtle jazz and they are cool. Celluloid feels nice and has warm tone who's into that. I also modded some of those to have more pointed tip, lika gravity and that improves them IMO. Adds clarity and precision. Didn't get to review them yet, but I will. Have some metal...

Making my own picks (Blue Chip/Gravity inspired)

this. So far these vespel picks have the best feel of all picks I've tried. They feel like they're not there, like they're working with you, not against you. I don't like picks that feel like a foreign object. It's much better if you can interact with the strings more directly. And I've tried a...
