If I remove the logo on a squier neck and use it on a partscaster........

I don't think Don is actually talking about doing anything like that, he's a long time member and he knows better, but the mental gymnastics are tempting! But I agree that with all the counterfeits and licensing issues, TDPRI doesn't need any potential headaches and will likely take a very hard...

If I remove the logo on a squier neck and use it on a partscaster........

No. The license Fender grants to Squier is non-transferable. If you remove the logo, you remove the license. Technically you could say, "It was at one time licensed by Fender", but you'd be on shaky legal ground at best. That and what Lonn said!

    Valve stocking

JJ 12ax7s are now $39.99 for a single tube. That is, if you can get them. Last year I sold my two Fender Red Knob Twins that had a dozen 12ax7s each... They were too heavy for my geriatric physique, so I was happy to see them go to younger players. Shoulda' waited just a little bit longer...

    Blanton's is $200!?!?!

Forgive me for dusting off this older thread, but I found this YouTube video on the topic very informative. Also, Blanton's is available again at my local bottle shop for $59.99, but only in person, no online or mail order purchases. It used to be $39.99, so apparently the manufacturer has...

    Strymon Owners?

Strymon is an innovative pedal company. All of their products consistently deliver high quality tones with a good sense for knowing which features to include without drowning customers in needless bells and whistles. I just wish they weren't so expensive!

Thirty years ago, Trixie sold her Yamaha 600 club racer.

A low mileage 2018 Sr400 just showed up on my local Craigslist yesterday... And today I find this thread! Very cool bikes... One of the few kickstart bikes still on the market... And the new ones have fuel injection too! I definitely want one!

For aircraft enthusiasts: WW2 aviation, where designers got it wrong and other disasters.

A few months ago I stumbled across a very interesting YouTube channel called, "Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles". It's basically the pet project of a commercial airline pilot who likes aviation history and muscle cars... And he knows quite a bit about both. As I am also a long time fan of the...

Tricked out MIM vs Stock MIA

I hate these false dichotomies. Just get both! And trick out a MIA while you're at it!

    I've quit smoking

Jazz Cabbage! Congrats on your decision to be healthy. Talk to your doctor. Smoking is a peculiar habit. I.e., The act of burning medicinal plants and inhaling the smoke. Certain substances have serious physical side effects of withdrawal, and may require a substitute or treatment to...

    Craigslist: reply or ignore?

As a potential buyer, we all know there are scams out there. It's easy to reply in a way that let's the seller know you're for real. E.g., "I'm interested in your Peavey amp, is this the 210 or 115? Do you know if it has a tube guard installed in the back, and if so, is it the Peavey guard...

Any good horror movies on Prime or Netflix this month?

House of the Devil is an annual Halloween event in my family now. Nice and creepy with a distinctive 80s flavor.

    Blanton's is $200!?!?!

That's crazy! And Blanton's is good old Kentucky Bourbon. I used to drink Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, and that was about $40 a bottle too. Checked local prices on the Jack Single Barrel and that's $45 now. It was always more consistent than the Blanton's too. But that was part of the fun...

    Blanton's is $200!?!?!

Used to buy this stuff for $40 a bottle. I like bourbon but rarely drink more than one or two glasses a month. Recently went to restock and discovered the price had quadrupled! Dubya' Tea... I still can't wrap my brain around MIM Standards being $699. Not intended as a complaint...

Silver Sky, one month later. Long.

Congratulations on finding a good guitar that works for you! While you might not be as cool as Leonard Nimoy dressed as Spock sitting on his 1964 Buick Riviera... John Mayer might be. Doubtful perhaps, but Mayer's alright.

    Yeah...I’m sticking with multi-effects

It sounds like you have already found what you were looking for, congratulations! I didn't find the ME-80 any more complicated, but I have owned the GT6, GT8, and GT10 as well as a bunch of interations of the ME, including the original ME5 from the 80s. The GTs drove me nuts at first. But...

    Which SS amp head?

Another vote for a used Katana head. Roland also gave us the JC120. The Katana can do that too.

    Yeah...I’m sticking with multi-effects

You're headed in the right direction. Buy two ME-80's and be done with it. The beauty of the ME-80 compared to the other Boss Multi Effects is you can save all your user presets to the cloud, and if your ME-80 then gets run over by a tour bus, you can just get a new one, and download all your...

    Oh, Facebook...

I was in the middle of a motorcycle deal on FB marketplace. Don't have any other way to contact the seller. I like FB marketplace better than Craigslist or eBay. But I'll survive. It will be interesting to find out what actually happened, but it's fun to speculate in the meanwhile. I'm not...

Does anyone have a Peavey Reactor from the early 90s?

I agree that the practice of labeling things as "Made in USA" when they were actually assembled in the USA of foreign sourced parts did not start in the guitar business. Some companies did it more than others, but if a significant part of the instrument was in fact made in the USA, then those...

Does anyone have a Peavey Reactor from the early 90s?

I have a Lite Ash Tele and a Lite Ash Strat, both MIK Fenders from the mid naught years (04, 05, etc.) Nice guitars! They were never truly manufactured here. But Peavey fibbed about it, and lots of people want to believe the fib because it makes them feel better. It's basically Chinese...
