For context: I have not compared them to other wide range humbuckers apart from the ones they replaced.
I recently bought a gorgeous Telecaster deluxe. It's a MIJ limited edition with a Stratocaster Tremolo, chunky "U" shaped neck and in gorgeous Lake Placid Blue.
Telecaster deluxe...
If you had the six lug push pull you could do the series/parallel switch which I recommend over the coil split. Near identical sound to a split coil but slightly more output and no noise.
The grain is good enough in my book. I didn't even notice it was a 4 piece until you pointed it out.
If anybody gives you grief because he can tell it's a multipart body and therefore doesn't agree with your partscaster, you are in your right to not care about his opinion.
White blonde is a...
Hello everyone.
I have a MIM Telecaster deluxe with a short 6 saddle bridge. It's chrome. I've ordered two new Wide range humbuckers with nickel covers and would like to change the bridge out to a nickel one. The current one is mounted with three screws. The only replacements I can find are...
Hi Mats.
The curve of the frets is very very subtle. I have learned that the curve has to compensate for the difference in width between the nut and bridge that makes the strings"fan out" from but to bridge.
You won't notice while playing (at all). It probably helps with intonation but it's...
I alway try to imagine the total picture when modding a guitar or putting together a partscaster. Chrome hardwear or nickel? Al lot of nickel or barebones? What colour pickguard? Is the neck Rosewood or Maple. I don't like maple necks together with tortoise pickguard for instance. Everything...
Having experience with both I strongly prefer the Duesenberg over a Bigsby B5. It looks better (subjectively), the action is more direct and the handle bar is fully adjustable. The whole thing feels more solid than a bigsby. This might be because the bigsby is made of aluminium and the...
I bought this aged shell pink body second hand. I couldn't resist. It looked so cool. I have build a partscaster before and thought it would be a cool project to get me through the summer. I was right. And more importantly: the guitar turned out amazing. More than the sum of its parts.
The list...
This only remedies the symptoms and not the cause. I tried this and the outputs became so out of balance it didn't make sense anymore. I think I'm going to wire the pickups out of Phase to get a more distinct sound.
Hello TDPRI.
I would like to post a review of my newly acquired FGN guitar. When I was considering buying this guitar (second hand) there where hardly any reviews about this guitar in particular and FGN J-Standard in general. I took the gamble and bought it. I wasn't sorry.

"Controlling the volume level before the amp is no different than controlling it with the amp, from a perceived volume standpoint anyway."
This is exactly my point, to me this statement isn't true. I play through an orange ad30. If I turn up the volume of the amp something very different...
I know there have been threads about this before but hear me out please. The general consensus seems to be that a logarithmic pot is the way to go because of the natural response curve of the human ear. This sound very smart and scientific but something is bothering me about this. Wouldn't this...
I have a 90's 69 thinline reissue. Mahoganie body with natural finish. It's very good and solid guitar. I have upgraded all of the electronics. mostly to customize but also to upgrade. The stock pickups are usually pretty generic. The pots and switches do what they have to do but just don't have...
That is some serious modding. And i love it!
Looks great and very "out of the box".
I indeed had some problems with neck shimming/break angle. More on this in this thread: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaster-discussion-forum/511973-bigsby-b16-break-angle-sollution.html
I made my own shim...
The are indeed just telecaster saddles on a standard mustang bridge. Drilled three holes and voila. I did it because i wanted to try if brass saddles could fatten up the mids a bit. And since they don't make brass mustang saddles (someone really should) this was the next best thing.
It ads...
Thanks for the compliments everybody!
When i was researching how to refinish guitars on forums and youtube, all i could find where people explaining how to get a mirror finish. And it's a habit of manufacturers to. But whenever a guitar comes out with satin finish everybody comments on how...
The poly actually wasn't very thick on this one. It was the layer underneath that was pretty thick. Fortunatly that sanded off easily.
I recommend a heat gun for stripping poly. Just be careful not to burn the wood.
Nice guitar.
I love the binding.
As to Flyboys comment: a bigsby with a floating bridge (mustang/jazzmaster type) really needs thicker strings. It just ads to the stability and tone. At least that's my experience. My guitar became just so much nicer after i put some 011's on it.
I recently refinished my early 90's mij 69 Thinline.
I had to do some routing to it to fit an b16 Bigsby. The additional sanding sort of ruined the finish on the butt-end of the guitar. Since i didn't care for the high gloss finish and the routing considerably lowered resale value i took the...
