Extra eyes on 18w lite layout diagram plz.

I'm planning an 18w lite build. I'll be using a chassis that already has PT and OPT , a few tube sockets, and appropriate place for a cap can. So my layout has been influenced by this. I'd sure appreciate some extra eyes on the layout. I'm mostly concerned about avoiding noise issues from lead...

    5F10 FUN

I'm not at home for the next two weeks or so otherwise I would record you a sound clip. The sound isn't a night and day difference, but it is notable, and it's fun to have a slightly different sound option. The jacks are tight together so you have to be very accurate with your hole placement.

    5F10 FUN

I don't mean to meddle with your plans but worth mentioning is that if you do have 3 inputs you can jump input 2 and 3 with a guitar cable and you get a different sound out of input 1. I'm not sure if you enlarging the chassis holes and using isolation would cause a spacial problem for this. I...

What is considered the quintessential 18w lite iib ??

Okay, looks like you have to create account and login to access downloads at 18watt . Thanks guys.

What is considered the quintessential 18w lite iib ??

I'm looking to build and 18w lite in a Hammond AO44 chassis using the original hammond transformers so it will have to be a single channel (i.e. lite version). There just seems to be so many versions of the 18w lite. I'll likely end up building a few of these but am hoping to start with the...

What is considered the quintessential 18w lite iib ??

Is there/does anyone have a schematic for what would be considered the quintessential lite iib build? I've poked around on Google and found one by a Mark Huss but would like some opinions on what would be considered the standard 18w build. I can't figure out where to find schematics on...

    Tired of my 5e3

I love 5e3's and use them live all the time. If I didn't build them I would buy one. You may just be able to sell it to fund the parts for your new build.

5u4 vs GZ34 B+ in Princeton Reverb clone

@peteb good tip! I was also hoping to verify if this tube has an independently heated cathode as well as its current draw. The b+ on the reservoir cap doesn’t spike at power up with this tube. I guess that means it’s independently heated.

    Higher power Champ

You might try a blackface Princeton (non-reverb) and if that's not low volume enough then use a very inefficient speaker. In my experience the non-reverb Princetons are quieter than the reverb ones and also sound really great at low volumes.

5u4 vs GZ34 B+ in Princeton Reverb clone

So I plugged in a known Mullard GZ34 and the results are in: B+ shot up to 419 with plate dissipation at about 70%. So the tube is the culprit. So perhaps as @schmee stated above these are actually 5v4's? But don't 5v4's have only slightly less voltage drop than GZ34's? I'm getting the same...

5u4 vs GZ34 B+ in Princeton Reverb clone

My amp is wired stock except for a nfb on/off switch and a high-cut pot. Sooner or later I'll pop a known GZ34 in there and will let you guys know what happens to the B+.

5u4 vs GZ34 B+ in Princeton Reverb clone

The PT is the classictone below: 650v at 70ma HT and 3A rectifier filament secondaries. The OPT is one I took from a vintage organ. It's sized roughly the same as a princeton reverb OPT and is about 8k at 8ohms and 8k at 4ohms (yes, it has two taps). Good call, Wally. I do have a Mullard GZ34...

5u4 vs GZ34 B+ in Princeton Reverb clone

I've been using an old RCA 5u4 in my princeton reverb clone with a B+ of 390 and ~70% plate dissipation. Curious to find out what the amp would sound like with the called for B+ of about ~420 I swapped in an old Sylvania "big bottle" USA GZ34. The part I don't understand is why my B+ and bias...

Wiring DPDT switch for internal channel jumper

I was digging around some of Steve Luckey's schematics and found his Supro build. He used a single input jack with an on-on-on switch to go between two different channels or both. There's my solution. Super simple. Now I just have to figure out what to do with this ugly hole in my chassis where...

Wiring DPDT switch for internal channel jumper

The switch ground and both input jack grounds all go to the ground bus bar close to each other, but not exactly at the same place. Would this really make a difference? It seems that the problem is an open circuit, I'm not understanding how the placement of the grounds would affect this. Could...

    Dimensions JBL D120f

Does anyone have, or could measure, the EXACT dimensions of a JBL D120f? I don't need the depth, just the diameter of the frame. I'm looking to buy one for a cab that has limited space and wanting to make sure I have enough room before I purchase. TIA!

Wiring DPDT switch for internal channel jumper

@Wally The problem I'm running into is that the jack on the right is the normal channel and the one on the left is the bright channel, so not being able to use the bright channel wouldn't work. I suspect that if there is a solution to this it is very complicated. I'm wondering if just removing...

Wiring DPDT switch for internal channel jumper

I just wired up a two channel, two input amp with a channel jumping dpdt switch. The switch works as it should when I have a guitar plugged in. When channel jumping is engaged and nothing is plugged in to the amp there is a loud buzz/hum. I'm using switchcraft shorting jacks. Did I wire this up...

Replacing switch broke my MXR carbon copy. Troubleshoot.

When opening up the case of my MXR carbon copy the stomp switch fell apart. I replaced it but now the pedal does not pass signal. Well, actually you still can hear the "pop" being delayed when either the battery or input is plugged in with the pedal turned ON. There is no signal with switch in...

    5F10 PT question plus

I put the one circled in green in. You drill a hole in the chassis to fit the pot and then it tightens down with a nut just like any normal pot. It's adjustable from inside or outside the chassis. Edit: It's a 10k linear pot, which means you have to be pretty accurate with the value of resistor...
