Using Boss GX-100 with actual amps instead of PA

The cool thing about GT-1000 and GX-100 is you have the hi and lo pass on the parametric EQ. On the BOSS MS-3, the EQ doesn't have these controls. I'm using GT-1000 or GT-1000CORE (depends how many footswitches I need, how much I feel like carrying) into Headrush frfr108. And I have the lows...

    MIM Fender new-parts Tele

Haven't been on here in a long time. Teles have come and gone, and I've whittled it down to 4 favorite Teles. Here's my current gigging T. It's a partscaster technically, built from brand new genuine Fender neck and body (MIM). Roasted Maple 22 fret neck. Jumbo frets. The flatter fretboard and...

    MY GFS Fatbody review.

The plate had some kind f glue there as well as the wax, it wasn't all wax on the bottom, my theory is that they glue it first then pot it, and the heat from the wax that seeped in may have disrupted the bond with the glue/epoxy whatever it is. it wasn't completely covered like, there was space...

    MY GFS Fatbody review.

So I just almost finished my latest build/bolt Warmoth dealy and plugged it in for the first time. NOISE. I'm running GFS fatbody pickups. The noise was ridiculous. Usually when I touch a "hot" wire in the control cavity, I'll hear a buzz, and if I touch something grounded, like a ground wire...

    How to make Headstock Decals

Cool, thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, having re-read everything, the gold paint is going to be applied to the back side of the decal (in the non reverse/mirror method). The black lines are on the other side and therefore make for a clean looking job. This I understand...what I'm...

    How to make Headstock Decals

RESURRECTION. I read this thread and visited the links from the various posts. I'm looking for advice on the best way to create a logo given my circumstances. I have an inkjet printer. I can probably get to a copy shop if laser is that much better. I want to do the gold paint thing...

My Christmas Music Video, Has Tele in it.

Hey everyone, here's a video I just finished. I recorded the stuff with this Tele, which is a mid-80s MIJ TL-52, stock bridge pickup and Fender USA neck PU from a Highway 1 Tele. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N31mxrrWqc0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N31mxrrWqc0

New Tele Build, pickup choice help please

Cool, I had considered some of the "texas" and "twisted tele" offerings from Fender... how does your combo work together in middle position? Have you tried series?

New Tele Build, pickup choice help please

Hey what does the Tele neck Microcoils look like? I'm guessing if it has adjustable pole pieces it must be uncovered.

New Tele Build, pickup choice help please

I checked out Don Mare seems very "vintage" targeted but he's got some options.... I remember when Microcoils came out but can't find anything about them on the Bill'n'Becky website...are they still being made? I wonder who they've got winding the pickups now.. EDIT: I FOUND THE INFO...

New Tele Build, pickup choice help please

I need a set of stock-sized Tele pickups for a new build. Ash body, Wilkinson bridge (picked because I prefer the sound of traditionally-thin bridge plates, Gotoh changed the sound drastically), Warmoth Pro maple neck with maple board. I need great clean tones. They don't need to be...

Lower Profile Saddles For Gotoh Bridge?

I am certainly effected by placebo, different colors of finish change how I hear things. BUT..that's exactly what I just did. Dropped a shim in. First of all it felt different since the neck angle was very obvious, yet just enough to make the bridge somewhat usable, and the highs and sustain...

Does the Fender 6-saddle bridge just 'drop-in' where a 3-saddle currently is?

Sorry for the thread resurrection. I just swapped my traditional 4-hole, 3-saddle stock bridge for a Gotoh modern 6 saddle bridge. The baseplate on it is so thick that the minimum saddle height was still too high. I shimmed the neck, but that changed the tone and feel of the instrument, and...

Lower Profile Saddles For Gotoh Bridge?

Also I just tried the shim, with a strip of business card in there the angle was enough to at least get the saddles off the plate..but the tone is really different. I'm gonna look into other bridges. Into the parts bin goes the Gotoh.

Lower Profile Saddles For Gotoh Bridge?

hey this might be a little OT, but do any of you Gotoh bridge users know what size height adjustment screws came with your bridges? On this one the E strings have the shorter height, but the 4 center strings all have a really tall screw...I bought off ebay from somebody and I'm wondering if they...

Lower Profile Saddles For Gotoh Bridge?

yeah these are too high when against the base plate. Not sure if it's a Japanese neck-pocket depth thing, but the saddle that came on the stock 3-saddle bridge were flat on the bottom, a little over half the thickness of the cylindrical saddles on "vintage" type USA Teles. These saddles on...

Lower Profile Saddles For Gotoh Bridge?

Hey all. I just installed a Gotoh modern style 6-saddle bridge on my 80's MIJ TL-52. I'm using the included screws (flat head, whereas the stock screws were kind of a oval/raised head) so I've got maximum clearance to lower the saddles. Even with my jumbo frets, the action is too high. I...

Advice on neck finishing for neck swap, please.

Great tip about leaving the foil on the bottle. That's probably handy for a lot of different compounds that need to be stored for a long time. This is one of those times roasted maple would be nice for the darker color, no staining needed.

Advice on neck finishing for neck swap, please.

Yeah those are nice. Do you guys have any specific tips for sanding between frets? The neck will be already fretted. Has anyone re-fretted a neck that was coated this way? Would spot re-staining be needed because of sand-throughs when filing the edges of the frets? (on maple boards) The...

Advice on neck finishing for neck swap, please.

Awesome. I found some images of a strat neck somebody had done and the color looked good. I just need to decide on which dye or stain to use. I'd prefer something that was easy to control like maybe some kind of gel stain, but of course I gotta make sure it's compatible. I wish there was...

Advice on neck finishing for neck swap, please.

Thanks. I didn't realize tru-oil would sit on top of the decal, I figured it would have to sink into the wood. This sounds doable and I appreciate you doing a couple test runs and saving me the headache. What amber dye did you choose? I don't suppose you have any pics of this? This sounds...

Advice on neck finishing for neck swap, please.

I planning on swapping the neck on my 80's MIJ TL-52 with one from Warmoth. I'm doing this because I want 22 frets, flatter radius, headstock-end truss adjust, new frets, etc. I want to keep the tinted look though, but I do NOT want a spray finish on the maple fretboard. I want the feel and...

    Redd Volkaert T-shirt

I love the idea of Garytelecaster requesting a size "small" undershirt that has actually been worn by Redd. If anybody screens some T's, I'll take one in medium. But I only wear black T's! There's a lot of companies now that'll do small runs of shirts, maybe Redd could make a little...

    Odd Jerry Donahue Radius

Ok so GUESS WHAT. The "device" (a piece of paper with radii printed on it) was off. Both the necks have the same radius, I put them butt-to-butt, they are identical. I did notice that the TL-52 neck had a more rounded edge though, as if the neck pocket was less square (neck pockets are...
