I vouch for this. I kept changing my pickguard on my CV and went through the screws like butter. Changed them and have had no such problems since....
Just take it to a luthier for a diagnosis or buy a new neck, this is the risk you run when you:
A) not only buy online, but
B) buy across borders
They still make the CVs, just not the vintage white ones.

I can confirm the new custom esquires have no routing. Andertons did a video where they look 'under the hood' and it looks 10/10 without a guard.

Honestly, you need to try them. I had the chrome barrel saddles on my CV esquire and changed them to brass compensated ones.
