I found a Tick on me!

What's the deal with bullseye rashes? I've read they're always indicative of lyme. Not all tick bites bullseye, but all bullseye are tick bites... 12 years ago I got a bite and a big bullseye after walking around a favourite conservation area. Never saw what bit me. It was on my shoulder, got a...

Getting Old vs. Being Old, Part II: Cognitive Decline

Contentment! That's very true. Happiness is ephemeral. Contentment is more difficult to achieve, but more stable, present, and long term.

Give some recognition to someone here!

I enjoy everyone's posts here. It's a great atmosphere, in part because of the members, and also because of the mods. I enjoy the laughs, the quips, the points of view - that even though may clash with my own, they make me think. It's all good. At the request of the title of the thread however...

    I found an Arrow

Sometimes when I'm out driving around and I see a sign that says 'Watch for Children' I think to myself, seems like a good deal. - Mitch Hedberg

Getting Old vs. Being Old, Part II: Cognitive Decline

Your situation might be entirely different OP, but this article I was reading the other night really hit home. Sounds like it could be written about me. https://www.verywellmind.com/languishing-is-the-mood-of-2021-5180999

Dracula (1931) most anticlimactic movie ever?/ Terrible movie endings

Fun fact - I don't remember who his character is, but Barry Corbin is in that movie. The old guy in the desert who speaks with Tommy Lee Jones. He's one of my favourite actors. The movie took place in West Texas. Barry has been in many westerns and was born in Texas. He's the son of a Texas...

Dracula (1931) most anticlimactic movie ever?/ Terrible movie endings

That was precisely the point. The book, which came out first, was written by Cormac McCarthy. This is a running theme of his, which you can find in his equally popular The Road, also a movie. He likes to point this out while making us question, "who really is the good/bad guys here?" ALA...

I found a Tick on me!

I'll be first in line as well. My workplace (hospital) offers certain vaccines as a general precaution and personal safety recommendation and I'm happy to get what is offered by them. Lyme is of great interest to me though. I miss geo-caching, hiking, rural exploring, etc and not having to...

What music did you listen to as a young child?

A few I remember distinctly - The Beatles, Eurythmics, CCR, The Eagles, Brooks & Dunn, and a Motown solid gold collection.

THANKS FELLOW BAD DOGS FOR KEEPING ME AWAKE AND CALM LAST NIGHT.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles Kandinskyesque. That's a very stressful, awful sounding event. I hope the police sort the matter out and that you're left well and alone from here on out. Congrats on the 30 years! Enjoy your special day.

    I found an Arrow

That's always been a fear of mine. Up here, come hunting season, there's always trucks parked on the side of the road from guys who stop and walk in. You can see their orange sometimes at the tree line in fields. I like to think they know better than to shoot towards the road, but you never know.

Defying Age (or other peoples idea of age).

Sorry, I should have been more concise with my question. You mentioned the $200 cake and said, "can you guess who the party was for?" I meant to ask, were you implying it was for mom and dad? Some parents use their children as a vehicle for their own vanity sometimes. I wondered if that's what...

The cartoon was great! The Tick, Space Ghost, Duckman, Ren & Stimpy. Such a great era for cartoons.

I'm going to stay 100% sober every day for the rest of my life

Any intoxicant? I gave up drugs and booze years ago. I'm not ready to let go of my espresso just yet though. Man's gotta have something.

Dracula (1931) most anticlimactic movie ever?/ Terrible movie endings

I'm a big Sopranos fan. Over the years I've read Chase's opinions on the end... Guy is the worst, "Tony died, for sure." 2 years later, "mmm, not sure. Maybe he lived." Little while after that, "no, he definitely died." He lived, he died, he lived, he died... WHATEVER. You wrote a terrible...

    Roll Dice The!

Same here. Lots of rot, even on ones that aren't very old. I used to work in landscaping, used a variety of pickups each day. Doing that kind of work you soon see where brand reputations come from - which are workhorses, and which aren't.

Dracula (1931) most anticlimactic movie ever?/ Terrible movie endings

I haven't been able to comfortably swim in open bodies of water since I saw JAWS as a kid. I love old black and white movies. I have all those Universal Studios monster movies on DVD collections. That and Twilight Zone is good stuff.

I found a Tick on me!

Behind my high school there was a very large protected conservation area. Like, more than 40 acres. As one might imagine, us teenagers would skip class and head back there to smoke ree... uh, be with nature, and to practice our night moves. Anyway, this couple was back there one day, enjoying...

    DeFacebooked?

I know what you mean. People my age grew up with it. I never had it. People would look at me like I was some sort of leper or idiot when I told them I don't have it and would ask "why not" in a sardonic manner. Some got pretty judgy about it, especially musicians.
