Hi William. This is a multi-part post. Sorry.

I just wanted to weigh in on the speaker and tube swaps with the Greta without causing a fuss in the thread, or further derailing it.

I tested several different 4” speakers with it. Several terrible samples are on my YouTube channel. One person tried a Visaton brand speaker with it, and LOVED, bragged about it, and it caught on.

I also tried some vintage alnico and ceramic speakers. In the end I decided that I like the original just fine. It really shines when paired with an external cab.

I also did a fair number of tube swaps with little difference noticed by me. YMMV. Anyway, I wanted you to know that not everyone thinks the Greta needs a speaker swap or expensive unobtainium tubes to make it sound great.

If you just enjoy modding and tube swapping, it IS an easy platform to work with (once you get all those tiny screws out!). I do recommend playing it stock and with a larger cab (I treat it as a cool, retro head) for a while before you jump into modding it.

I actually own three of them, but don’t tell anyone. Someone was selling 2 of them, and I wanted to have a spare. I didn’t think my bid would take them, but it did. That’s how I ended up with 3.

Anyway, welcome to the Greta club.
