...geez I love this thread. Swapping tubes sounds good but is there a hidden down side? I'll have to check these options out. What is the series resistor on the treble pot about? My amp has a high e string that sounds "snappy" not chimey or "bell" like. It does not ring ... it snaps. AND the...

Fender 75W Lead Amp with Reverb. 1980-82. Owners Club.

O.K. I’ll join. Got my 75 about 6 weeks ago and I think it has awesome potential. Once I learn how to dial in I’m gonna love it. 15” speaker.Looks all original but for a three prong plug upgrade. Speaker pic and tube chart.

    JTM45 tube choice KT66 or 6L6?

yeah. I'm leaning toward a 15". Maybe a used Fender 15" @ $150 Need a cabinet too @ $300. Wow adds up fast. Not less expensive to DIY amp build. Probably have $800 in the JTM45 build right now and its just a head. No dedicated speaker or cabinet yet. So it's close to $1250. Wow could have bought...

    JTM45 tube choice KT66 or 6L6?

A single Weber 12f150 in open back is too thin sounding. Two Weber's at 8 ohms ,open back can get dialed in pretty good. I'd say good enough for me. KT66's look fine.Glowing good no red plates. Wish I had a neighbor that could really play this thing. I'm going to try hooking up to my 15"...

    JTM45 tube choice KT66 or 6L6?

Working on biasing KT66 Gold Lion's and they are not a matched set so one side is 34.8 mA and the other is 41.5mA. Close enough, right? Then adjust to suit self. Started with Weber Ferromax 12f150 x 2 in closed box ... sucks.Sounds smothered. Next I will only change by opening the cabinet.Listen...

    Blackvibe 4x 6L6 any interest?

This would be a "Twin" with no Trem or Reverb. I built Rob's Blackvibe for 2x 6L6 and NO COMPLAINTS! It's a ton of fun to play.Using Weber Ferromax 12f150 8 ohm 50watt x 2 in open back cabinet. But then, after about a year or so...I acquired a Fender 75 with 2x 6L6 and SS rectifier and 15"...
