    Reverb 6G15 clone doubts

@Lowerleftcoast It uses a full wave. The same as in post #23 above. I'll give a shot wiggling those B+2 wires. They may be really tight so I might have to replace the wires altogether.

    Reverb 6G15 clone doubts

@Lowerleftcoast The reservoir cap and the other filter caps are in the doghouse on the back of the chassis. The preamp filter cap is grounded with the preamp. The reservoir and 2nd filter cap are with the power amp. All jacks including rca jacks are isolated.

    Reverb 6G15 clone doubts

I built my 6g15 like this and also used hum blocker buffer, grouping all my power amp and preamp leads separately on the buss bar. The issue I ran into given the layout I also chose (the original Fender Reverb Unit layout) is it resulted in many and very long ground leads running through the...

    Reverb 6G15 clone doubts

I think you've got a ground loop that you'll want to eliminate. I put a red X on it below. Also, I may be dense, but I thought it was established that one of the tank rca jacks should be isolated. On the diagram you guys have been working with aren't they both grounded? Maybe I'm reading it wrong?

    Reverb 6G15 clone doubts

This thread is really helpful. I'm following along here, as I'm trying to fix an annoying hum I have in my 6g15 that increases as the mixer knob increases. I suspect it has something to do with my grounding of the reverb tank in my build, which you guys were just talking about. The way I have...

    Fender amp sanity check question...

I should mention that I play most of my amps on 10. The higher the volume the louder the hiss. At 1-2 volume you wouldn't hear much if any hiss. At 4 you would hear a bit. Once you get cooking at 6 or 7 you're getting a fair amount. At 10 it's hiss madness. If your amp has carbon composition...

    Fender amp sanity check question...

Hiss is completely normal. I wouldn't think twice about this. All my tube amps have some hiss. The vintage ones have A LOT of hiss.

Extra eyes on 18w lite layout diagram plz.

I'm planning an 18w lite build. I'll be using a chassis that already has PT and OPT , a few tube sockets, and appropriate place for a cap can. So my layout has been influenced by this. I'd sure appreciate some extra eyes on the layout. I'm mostly concerned about avoiding noise issues from lead...

    5F10 FUN

I'm not at home for the next two weeks or so otherwise I would record you a sound clip. The sound isn't a night and day difference, but it is notable, and it's fun to have a slightly different sound option. The jacks are tight together so you have to be very accurate with your hole placement.

    5F10 FUN

I don't mean to meddle with your plans but worth mentioning is that if you do have 3 inputs you can jump input 2 and 3 with a guitar cable and you get a different sound out of input 1. I'm not sure if you enlarging the chassis holes and using isolation would cause a spacial problem for this. I...

What is considered the quintessential 18w lite iib ??

Okay, looks like you have to create account and login to access downloads at 18watt . Thanks guys.

What is considered the quintessential 18w lite iib ??

I'm looking to build and 18w lite in a Hammond AO44 chassis using the original hammond transformers so it will have to be a single channel (i.e. lite version). There just seems to be so many versions of the 18w lite. I'll likely end up building a few of these but am hoping to start with the...

What is considered the quintessential 18w lite iib ??

Is there/does anyone have a schematic for what would be considered the quintessential lite iib build? I've poked around on Google and found one by a Mark Huss but would like some opinions on what would be considered the standard 18w build. I can't figure out where to find schematics on...

    Tired of my 5e3

I love 5e3's and use them live all the time. If I didn't build them I would buy one. You may just be able to sell it to fund the parts for your new build.

5u4 vs GZ34 B+ in Princeton Reverb clone

@peteb good tip! I was also hoping to verify if this tube has an independently heated cathode as well as its current draw. The b+ on the reservoir cap doesn’t spike at power up with this tube. I guess that means it’s independently heated.
